229 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />MAY 7, 1973 <br />EXCAVATION BOND CONTINUATION CERTIFICATE FILED - DOMINIC J. BARTOLINI <br />The Board received an Excavation Bond Continuation Certificate for Dominic <br />J. Bartolini and, upon motion made, seconded and carried, referred the <br />certificate to the Division of Engineering for investigation and report. <br />STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORT <br />The Street Light Outage report for the period of 4/26/73 to 5/3/73 was <br />received and ordered filed. <br />COMPLAINT - MRS. SANDRA BLOCK <br />Mrs. Sandra Block, 733 N. Ironwood Drive, complained to the``Board that some <br />individuals have been loading up sod that was removed in the Ironwood Sidewalk <br />project and taking it away. They claim that the sod belongs to the City and <br />that they can take it. Mr. Richardson said this is absolutely incorrect, that <br />the sod belongs to the contractor and is to be used to re -landscape the area. <br />Mrs. Block also complained about the harrassment of some of the property owners <br />in the sidewalk construction area. Mr. Richardson said that he would contact <br />McIntyre and Jones in regard to the sod problem and inform them that they could <br />press charges against anyone removing sod. He said that any residents who are- <br />Q harrassed should report it to the Police Department. <br />U <br />U CHANGE OF MEETING DATE - MEMORIAL DAY <br />Mr. Barcome made a motion that the regular Board of Public Works meeting scheduled <br />for May 28, Memorial Day, be set for Tuesday, May 29, 1973 at 10:45 a.m., <br />immediately following the Board of Public Safety meeting. The motion was seconded <br />and carried. <br />REQUEST TO USE CITY -OWNED LOT AT 725 W. COLFAX FOR A COMMUNITY GARDEN <br />The Board received a request from Mrs. Barbara Silcott, Chairman of the Gardening <br />Committee of Protect our Planet, to allow the use of the city -owned -vacant lot <br />at 725 W. Colfax Avenue for the purpose of a community garden. Residents of <br />the Model Cities area would be encouraged to grow a garden which would benefit <br />them and would also eliminate the unsightly weeds which usually grow on this lot. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the request to use <br />the lot subject to the Model Cities Program and the immediate neighbors being <br />notified and subject also to holding the city harmless from any liability that <br />may result from the use of the lot. <br />3RD ANNUAL ST. JOSEPH RIVER RUN <br />Mrs. Jean Sharp reminded the Board and everyone present that the 3rd Annual St. <br />Joseph River Run, sponsored by the Michiana Watershed, will be held on Saturday, <br />May 12th. She invited all to participate. <br />DARDEN ROAD -RIVERSIDE DRIVE SANITARY SEWER PROJECT <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the plans for the <br />Darden Road - Riverside Drive Sanitary Sewer Project. <br />NORTHEAST AREA STORM SEWER PROJECT <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, plans for the Northeast Area Storm <br />Sewer Project (McKinley Terrace) were approved. <br />PAVEMENT I<PROVEMENTS - IRONWOOD ROAD, IRELAND TO EWING <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, plans were approved for pavement <br />improvements on Ironwood Road from 1500' North of Ireland to Ewing. <br />
