Sweeney, Jr., President.
Because of the illness of Mr. Barcome and Mr. Richardson, there was not a quorum
so all official business will be continued until Monday, January 15, 1973.
Bids for city vehicles and for janitorial services will be file stamped but not
opened until next Monday.
Mr. Sweeney then asked if anyone was present who had been requested to show cause
in regard to sub -standard buildings. Mr. Donald James, 412 E. Calvert Street, said
that he has sold this property and the new owners would like to,have some time to
decide what they want to do with it. Mr. Steed said that bids have been let but
no demolition has started. Mr. Sweeney asked Mr, Steed to check with the new
owners and the demolition company and report back to him.
1614 S. Scott Street. Mr. Jake Hawkins, Jr. of 1450 E. Sorin Street, reported that
he has purchased -the property at 1614 S. Scott Street with the idea of rehabilitating
the property. Mr. James Kambol was present and is the heir to the property.
Part of the building was destroyed by fire but the front of the property is cement
block. Steed to clarify this matter.
Mrs. lee Swan, 2022 Swygart"Street, called attention to a problem caused by fencing
done by American Motors at the old Kaiser -Jeep location. Bulldozing done to put
up the fencing has caused -erosion and the water is running off causing ice to form
on Ewing Avenue between Catalpa and Scott Streets. This creates hazardous driving
conditions and Mrs. Swan feels that American Motors should be told that this
situation must be alleviated. Mr. Sweeney directed that this matter be brought
to the attention of Mr. Richardson for appropriate -action.
Mr. Donald Germann, Director of Civil Defense, reported that they new-c:have a
complete set of automobile extraction equipment purchased through federal and
local funds.
Mr. Sweeney directed that all persons requested to show cause by the Sub -Standard
Building Department be notified that the matters were continued until January 15,
1973.
Attest;
'70cL_ - K
a YZ2Sz;:Z1--
Clerk
Charles -A.
