9/25/72 <br />LETTER FROM REHABILITATION SECTION OF DEPARTMENT OF REDEVELOPMENT <br />The following letter was received: <br />To: Board of Public Works and Safety <br />From: Lloyd S. <br />Taylor <br />Date: September <br />21, 1972 <br />The Rehabilitation <br />Section of the Department of Redevelopment, City <br />of South Bend, <br />requests that the following cases be continued for a <br />period of thirty (30) days to permit the Relocation Section to relocate <br />the occupant: <br />735 <br />North Hill Street <br />721 <br />East Howard Street <br />728 <br />North Hill Street <br />615 <br />East Howard Street <br />r-! <br />.742 <br />North Frances Street <br />726 <br />North Frances Street <br />" <br />721 <br />North Eddy Street <br />413 <br />St. .Vincent Street <br />V <br />628 <br />North Hill Street <br />701 <br />North Eddy Street <br />703 <br />North Frances Street <br />712 <br />North Hill Street <br />We are taking action to post these structures and notify the owners <br />and occupants of unsafe condition and that the structures are unfit <br />for human habitation. <br />If you have any questions, we would be more than happy to answer them <br />at your regular Board Meeting on September 25th <br />s/ Lloyd S. Taylor, Executive Director <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the request was granted and <br />the continuance ordered. <br />THE FOLLOWING LETTER WAS RECEIVED FROM THE REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION <br />To: Board of Public Works and Safety <br />From: Lloyd S. Taylor <br />Date: September.2T, 1972 <br />The Rehabilitation Section of the Department of Redevelopment, City <br />of South Bend, inspected the structure at 514 Kalorama, on August <br />15, 1972. This structure was found to be in violation of Section <br />H-130.1 of the basic Housing Code of the City of South Bend, in that <br />it was in unsafe condition and, therefore, unfit for human habitation. <br />Numerous code violations were found in the structure and it is <br />estimated that the cost of rehabilitation would be $6,774.00. The <br />structure is presently vacant and open.. We have contacted the owner, <br />Mr. Charles F. Crutchfield, and he has given the Department authority <br />to have the building demolished. A copy of his letter is attached. <br />We,,hereby, request permission of the Board of Public Works and <br />Safety for us to seek bids for demolition. <br />s/ Lloyd S. Taylor, Executive Director <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board granted permission <br />for the Redevelopment Commission to have the structure at 514 Kalorama <br />Street demolished. <br />
