9/25/72 LETTER FROM REHABILITATION SECTION OF DEPARTMENT OF REDEVELOPMENT The following letter was received: To: Board of Public Works and Safety From: Lloyd S. Taylor Date: September 21, 1972 The Rehabilitation Section of the Department of Redevelopment, City of South Bend, requests that the following cases be continued for a period of thirty (30) days to permit the Relocation Section to relocate the occupant: 735 North Hill Street 721 East Howard Street 728 North Hill Street 615 East Howard Street r-! .742 North Frances Street 726 North Frances Street " 721 North Eddy Street 413 St. .Vincent Street V 628 North Hill Street 701 North Eddy Street 703 North Frances Street 712 North Hill Street We are taking action to post these structures and notify the owners and occupants of unsafe condition and that the structures are unfit for human habitation. If you have any questions, we would be more than happy to answer them at your regular Board Meeting on September 25th s/ Lloyd S. Taylor, Executive Director Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the request was granted and the continuance ordered. THE FOLLOWING LETTER WAS RECEIVED FROM THE REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION To: Board of Public Works and Safety From: Lloyd S. Taylor Date: September.2T, 1972 The Rehabilitation Section of the Department of Redevelopment, City of South Bend, inspected the structure at 514 Kalorama, on August 15, 1972. This structure was found to be in violation of Section H-130.1 of the basic Housing Code of the City of South Bend, in that it was in unsafe condition and, therefore, unfit for human habitation. Numerous code violations were found in the structure and it is estimated that the cost of rehabilitation would be $6,774.00. The structure is presently vacant and open.. We have contacted the owner, Mr. Charles F. Crutchfield, and he has given the Department authority to have the building demolished. A copy of his letter is attached. We,,hereby, request permission of the Board of Public Works and Safety for us to seek bids for demolition. s/ Lloyd S.
