REGULAR MEETING JUNE 9, 1975 <br />RIVER BEND PLAZA APPLICATION -APPROVED. <br />The application of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority to conduct .games <br />on River Bend Plaza during Sidewalk Days, July 26, 1975, was <br />tabled, pending a report from the Charitable Solicitations <br />Commission on the group's application. The Commission has now <br />notified the Board that a permit has been granted. Upon motion <br />made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the application. <br />STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORT <br />The Street Light Outage Report for the period of May 28 through <br />June 4 was received. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the <br />report was ordered filed. <br />CHANGE ORDER APPROVED - BENDIX-ARDMORE-LINCOLNWAY WEST INTERSECTION <br />A Change Order for the TM60DO Project, Bendix Drive, Ardmore Trail <br />and Lincolnway West intersection improvements, was submitted to the <br />Board. The change order was an increase of $4,168.34 and was <br />0 recommended for approval by Patrick McMahon, Manager of the Bureau <br />of Public Construction, and Rollin E. Farrand, Director of Public <br />Works. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved <br />the Change Order. <br />W <br />W PETITION RE: PROBLEMS AT BOLAND PARK <br />The Board received a letter from Raymond M. Brach, 2309 Council Oak <br />Drive, and a petition signed by 138 residents of the Highland <br />Estates Subdivision requesting that the Board close the entrance to <br />Boland Park at Tomahawk Trail and construct an entrance on Bendix <br />Drive. The letter cited numerous problems resulting in the area <br />from park traffic, because of the narrow winding streets in the <br />subdivision, the large number of users of the Park and the fact'. <br />that the ball diamonds and tennis courts are on the western edge <br />of the park and cars must drive the whole length of the park to get <br />to them. Mr. Seitz commented that this one of the most popular <br />parks. He noted that the park was in the area before the subdivision <br />was built and said the fault lies with the design of the subdivision. <br />He said the Park Board is aware of the problem. Upon motion made, <br />seconded and carried, the petition was referred to the Bureau of <br />Traffic and Lighting, the Park Board and Mr. Seitz for review of <br />the situation and a recommendation. <br />RECOMMENDATION FROM DIVISION OF ENGINEERING RE: PETITION TO <br />VACATE ALLEY BETWEEN LOTS 171 AND 172, SOUTH OF MADISON STREET <br />The Bureau of Design and Administration reported to the Board that <br />they had reviewed the petition of the Eagles Lodge to vacate the <br />first east -west alley south of Madison Street between Lots 171 and <br />172 in the Original Plat of South Bend, running from Michigan <br />Street west 165 feet to the east r/w line of the north -south alley. <br />They have no objection to the vacation, subject to the existing <br />utilities. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the recommendation <br />was filed and the petition was referred to the Area Plan Commission <br />for their review and recommendation. <br />CONTRACT - GAS SERVICE, MORRIS CIVIC AUDITORIUM <br />Contracts for Gas Service for the Morris Civic Auditorium had been <br />received by the Board and referred to Kathleen Cekanski, Deputy City <br />Attorney, for review. Miss Cekanski reported to the Board that the <br />contracts could be approved. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, <br />the Board approved the contracts and they will be submitted to <br />the Northern Indiana Public Service Company for their approval. <br />
