362
REGULAR MEETING MAY 192 1975
REQUEST FOR STREET LIGHT - NORTHSIDE;BOULEVARD
The Board received a request for installation of a Street Light
on Northside Boulevard, between 34th and 35th Streets. Mr. Farrand
noted that the position of the Board is that no new street lights
can be installed because there is no money left in the electric
current budget. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the
request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting where
it will be kept on file until money becomes available.
REQUEST TO REMOVE PARKING METERS
The Board received a request from the Seifer Safe and Lock Service,
306 West Monroe Street, to remove the two parking meters in
front of that business and have the curb painted green with a ten
minute parking limit for in and out customers. Upon motion made,
seconded and carried, the matter was referred to the Bureau of
Traffic and Lighting for review of the possibility of having a
twelve -minute meter installed at this location.
REQUEST FROM SOUTHHOLD RESTORATIONS FOR BRICK
The Board received a request from Ruth Price, Executive Director
of Southhold Restorations, for bricks from the closed portion of
Columbia Street in the downtown renewal area. They would like to.
use the brick for the restoration of the drive at Tippecanoe Place.
It was noted that all brick has been removed and stockpiled for
use by the City. At this time, there is no brick to be released
until such time as the rest of Columbia Street might be abandoned.
PETITION FILED - DEPARTMENT OF REDEVELOPMENT
The Department of Redevelopment filed with the Board a petition
to vacate and dedicate certain streets, alleys and lots in the
Plat of River Bend Addition. Drawings of the affected property
were submitted. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the
petition was referred to the Division of Engineering for preliminary
review and recommendation.
CHANGE ORDER APPROVED - PROJECT TM6000, LINCOLNWAY VTEST AND BENDIX
The Board received a Change Order in Project TM6000, Lincolnway
West, Bendix Drive and Ardmore Trail intersection improvements.
The Change Order decreases the contract by $150.60 and was required
because of the state law requiring that all raised structures be
a minimum of 8' from the centerline of the railroad tracks, which
meant modification of the island at the southeast corner of
Lincolnway West and Bendix Drive. Upon motion made, seconded and
carried, the Change Order was approved.
PURCHASE AGREEMENT FILED WITH THE BOARD
Robert Parker, Chief Deputy City Attorney, submitted to the Board
a Purchase Agreement for the property at 622 N. Michigan Street
for the purchase of the property by the City of South Bend and
leasing it to PEAL Services. The property is presently owned by
the Lincoln National Life Insurance Company. Mr. Parker said there
are certain modifications to be made in the contract but he was
submitting it to the Board for their consideration and he will
come back to the Board with any recommended changes. The money
for the purchase has been appropriated and approved. Upon motion
made, seconded and carried, the contract was taken under advisement
until such time as Mr. Parker advises the Board that it is ready
for approval.
