REGULAR MEETING MAY 12, 1975 REQUEST FOR�.:WEST SIDE MEMORIAL DAY VETERANS PARADE RECEIVED The Board received a request from the West Side Veterans Association to hold their annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday, r?ay 26 at 9:00 a.m. The parade route submitted is the route used in other years and they furnished proof of indemnity insurance coverage. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the parade, subject to coordination by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Detail. BONDS APPROVED Ray S. Andrysiak, Bureau of Engineering, recommended to the Board that the following bonds were properly executed and could be approved: Schumacher -Sons, Inc, to 5/2/76 J & H Home Improvements to 4/29/76 Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the bonds were approved to the dates listed. C� CERTIFICATES OF INSURANCE FILED Certificates of Insurance were received as follows: The Sollitt Construction Company submitted a new Certificate of Insurance, effective until May 2, 1976. Woodruff and Sons, Inc. submitted a Certificate of Insurance for the Airport Industrial Park, Phase III effective until April 1, 1976. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the certificates were ordered filed. SIGNING OF TITLE SHEET - MAYFLOWER FIFTH ADDITION The Board received the title sheet, approving the plans for street construction in Mayflower Fifth Addition, Summitt Drive and Hazelwood Lane. David Wells, Manager of the Bureau of Design and Administration, reported to the Board.that this is part of a continuing project in the Velleville area and construction will be in accordance with City standards. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the- Board signed the title sheet approving the plans. COMMUNITY GARDEN AGREEMENT Kathleen Cekanski, Deputy City Attorneyz_submitted to the.Board .,., a form to be signed by any individual who wishes to use a'city-owned lot for a garden. The form included a Hold Harmless Agreement indemnifying the City of South Bend and contained the following' conditions: 1. Maintain said lot for the sole purpose of gardening. 2. Do any necessary grading or excavation of topsoil or other materials at the sole cost of the undersigned. 3. For no reason whatsoever remove topsoil or other material from said lot. 4. Maintain said lot in accordance with City Ordinances regarding Refuse, Weeds, Noxious Growths, and pertinent State and County Laws. 5. Use any fumigants, insecticides, or other similar substances in accordance with City Ordinances. 6. Purchase any and all seeds, plants, or similar items at their own. expense. 7. Maintain said lot in a safe and orderly fashion so as not to impede pedestrian safety, and so as not of obstruct motorist vision.
