REGULAR MEETING MAY 12, 1975 <br />REQUEST FOR�.:WEST SIDE MEMORIAL DAY VETERANS PARADE RECEIVED <br />The Board received a request from the West Side Veterans Association <br />to hold their annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday, r?ay 26 at <br />9:00 a.m. The parade route submitted is the route used in other <br />years and they furnished proof of indemnity insurance coverage. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the <br />parade, subject to coordination by the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Detail. <br />BONDS APPROVED <br />Ray S. Andrysiak, Bureau of Engineering, recommended to the Board <br />that the following bonds were properly executed and could be approved: <br />Schumacher -Sons, Inc, to 5/2/76 <br />J & H Home Improvements to 4/29/76 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the bonds were approved to <br />the dates listed. <br />C� CERTIFICATES OF INSURANCE FILED <br />Certificates of Insurance were received as follows: The Sollitt <br />Construction Company submitted a new Certificate of Insurance, <br />effective until May 2, 1976. Woodruff and Sons, Inc. submitted a <br />Certificate of Insurance for the Airport Industrial Park, Phase III <br />effective until April 1, 1976. Upon motion made, seconded and <br />carried, the certificates were ordered filed. <br />SIGNING OF TITLE SHEET - MAYFLOWER FIFTH ADDITION <br />The Board received the title sheet, approving the plans for street <br />construction in Mayflower Fifth Addition, Summitt Drive and Hazelwood <br />Lane. David Wells, Manager of the Bureau of Design and Administration, <br />reported to the Board.that this is part of a continuing project in <br />the Velleville area and construction will be in accordance with <br />City standards. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the- Board <br />signed the title sheet approving the plans. <br />COMMUNITY GARDEN AGREEMENT <br />Kathleen Cekanski, Deputy City Attorneyz_submitted to the.Board .,., <br />a form to be signed by any individual who wishes to use a'city-owned <br />lot for a garden. The form included a Hold Harmless Agreement <br />indemnifying the City of South Bend and contained the following' <br />conditions: <br />1. Maintain said lot for the sole purpose of gardening. <br />2. Do any necessary grading or excavation of topsoil or other <br />materials at the sole cost of the undersigned. <br />3. For no reason whatsoever remove topsoil or other material <br />from said lot. <br />4. Maintain said lot in accordance with City Ordinances regarding <br />Refuse, Weeds, Noxious Growths, and pertinent State and County <br />Laws. <br />5. Use any fumigants, insecticides, or other similar substances <br />in accordance with City Ordinances. <br />6. Purchase any and all seeds, plants, or similar items at their <br />own. expense. <br />7. Maintain said lot in a safe and orderly fashion so as not <br />to impede pedestrian safety, and so as not of obstruct <br />motorist vision. <br />
