REGULAR MEETING FEBRUARY 3, 1975 TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES APPROVED The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting recommended installation of the following traffic control devices: A Stop Sign on Marshall at Tuxedo A Stop Sign on Edward Street at Kemble Upon motion made, seconded.and carried, the installations were approved. REQUEST TO CLOSE NAVARRE STREET ON MAY 2 AND 3 DENIED The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting reviewed a request of the Junior League to close NavarreStreeton May 2 and 3, 1975 for a press conference and exhibition of a rehabilitated house. The Bureau recommended that the request not be approved, because Navarre Street is an arterial street and the closing would mean bus routes would have to be changed. This is the route used for Police and Fire emergency vehicles and one way systems in the Q area and the width of other streets would make it very difficult �y to detour traffic. It has been the policy of the Bureau to deny permission to close arterials or collector streets. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the request was denied. GL7 HOPE CHAPEL OF GOD PARADE APPROVED The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting reviewed a request of the Hope Chapel -Church of God to hold a parade on Saturday, June 7 in connection with their Annual Bible School. The Bureau recommended approval and the Police Department Traffic Department concurred. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the request, subject to the filing of liability insurance with the Board to hold the City of South Bend harmless from any liability action. VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3409, 1975 ADOPTED Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the following resolution was adopted: VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3409, 1975 RESOLVED, by the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend, Indiana, that it is desirable to vacate the following: Portions of Donald and Fox Streets, from Columbia east to Fellows and the first east -west alley south of Bowman between Fellows and ' Rush, and the north -south alley between Fellows and Push Streets from Bowman to the aforesaid east -west alley,.and a portion of Rush south from Bowman to the first east -west alley, City of South Bend. Reserving the rights and easements of all Utilities and the Municipal City of South Bend, Indiana, to construct and maintain any facilities, including, but not limited to, the following: electric, telephone, gas, water, sewer, surface water control structures and ditches, within the vacated right of way, unless such rights are released by the individual Utilities. The following properby may be injuriously or beneficially affected by such vacation: Lots 186 to 195 inclusive in Henry Studebaker Addition; Lots 230 to 241 inclusive in Bowman's 6th Addition; Lots 185 to 176 inclusive in Bowman's 5th Addition.
