Mr. Farrand explained that this
was included in the Howell contract, but because of the problems
with Howell, it was decided to eliminate the work from that contract
and award a contract for the work. Mr. McMahon recommended to the
Board that the unit price of $7.00 per sq. yd. as submitted by
McIntyre and Jones, was consistent with previous unit prices quoted
the City and he recommended that the Board award a contract to McIntyre
and Jones. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the recommendation
was approved.
SIGNING OF CONTRACT - IRELAND-IRONWOOD SIDEWALK
The contract with McIntyre and Jones for installation of sidewalks
at the intersection of Ireland and Ironwood was submitted to the Board.
Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the contract was signed.
The Performance Bond submitted with the contract was ordered filed.
APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION FOR WARNING FLASHERS AT SCHOOLS
The Board received the following recommendation from Clem Hazinski,
Manager, Bureau of Traffic and Lighting,:
Signs with the message "25 MPH When Childrenl Present" have been
installed at the approaches to school crossings especially
on State highways. At highly travelled locations these signs
should be supplemented with flashers and time clocks. Such
flasher installation must be approved by the Indiana State Highway
Commission.
It is requested that the Board of Works write a letter to the
Indiana State Highway Commission, LaPorte, Indiana, asking,
permission for installation at the following locations:
1.
