REGULAR MEETING <br />JULY 8, 1974 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:30 a.m. <br />on Monday, July 8, 1974 with all members present. Deputy City Attorney <br />Kathleen Cekanski was also present. Minutes..of.the previous meeting <br />were reviewed and approved. <br />RECOMMENDATION TO AWARD BID - NORTHWEST SANITARY SEWERS <br />The Board received a recommendation from the Division of Engineering <br />that the low bid of the Charles Dye Plumbing & Heating Co. be accepted <br />for the Northwest Sanitary Sewer project. Upon motion'made, seconded <br />and carried, the Board accepted the low bid of $129,478.50 of the Dye <br />Plumbing & Heating Company for the construction of the Northwest <br />Sanitary Sewers. <br />SIGNING OF CONTRACT AND PERFORMANCE BOND - NORTHWEST SANITARY SEWERS <br />The Contract and Performance Bond for the Northwest Sanitary Sewers <br />was submitted to the Board. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, <br />the contract and performance bond were signed. <br />CONTRACT AND PERFORMANCE BOND - EDISON ROAD TRUNK SEWER <br />The Contract and Performance Bond with Woodruff and Sons, Inc. for the <br />Edison Road -Elwood Avenue Trunk Sewer project were submitted to the Board. <br />The bid was accepted subject to approval of the funds. Upon motion made, <br />seconded and carried, the contract and performance bond were signed and <br />will be released to the Contractor after approval of the funds. The <br />Certificate of Insurance and letter regarding Workmen's Compensation <br />for the project were filed with the Board. <br />REQUEST TO BLOCK ALLEY FOR WILLIAM PENN PICNIC <br />The Board received a request from the William Penn Fraternal Association <br />to block the alleys around their building at 1024 W. Indiana Avenue <br />for their annual picnic on Satuday, July 20 beginning at 12:00 noon. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried,the Board referred the request <br />to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for review and recommendation. <br />LETTER REQUESTING BAN ON PARKING ON NARROW STREETS AND GUARDRAILS <br />The Board received a letter from Irene Gammon, City Clerk, expressing <br />the concern of the Common Council members a1lout congestion on narrow <br />streets in the City where parking is allowed. The letter suggested <br />that the Board consider banning parking on narrow streets to help <br />eliminate the problem. The letter also requested action on install- <br />ation of guardrails between Ribourde and Boland Drives. Upon motion <br />made, seconded and carried, the letter was referred to the Bureau of <br />of Traffic and Lighting for review and recommendation. <br />TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES APPROVED <br />The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting recommended approval of the <br />installation of the following traffic control devices: <br />A. Stop Sign on Woodward Court Service Drive at Colfax <br />B. Stop Sign on Woodward Court Service Drive at Washington <br />C. Stop Sign on Rasmussen Court Service Drive at Washington <br />D. Stop Sign on Rasmussen Court Service Drive at Jefferson <br />E. Stop Sign on Service Court #5 at Jefferson <br />F. Stop Sign on Service Court #5 at Washington <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the installations were <br />approved. <br />
