REGULAR MEETING MAY 6, 1974 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 p.m. on Monday, May 6, 1974 with all members present. City <br />Attorney James A. Roemer was also present. Minutes of the previous <br />meeting were reviewed and approved. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - OAK PARK SEWERS <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for the Oak Park Sewers, <br />authorized under Improvement Resolution No. 3400, 1974 for the con- <br />struction of local sanitary sewers on Oak Park Drive and Edison Road <br />from Oak Ridge Drive to Ironwood Drive. The Clerk tendered proofs <br />of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County <br />News which were found to be sufficient. <br />The following bids were opened and publicly read: <br />H. DeWulf Mechanical Contractor <br />Bid - $40,606.00 <br />Bartolini Excavating Company <br />Bid was signed by Henry <br />DeWulf, non -collusion <br />affidavit was in order and <br />a 5% bid bond accompanied the <br />bid. <br />The bid received from Bartolini Excavating Company was not signed and <br />was a defective bid. The bid was not read and it was rejected. <br />Dye Plumbing & Heating Company <br />Bid - $54,369.00 <br />Selge Construction Company <br />Bid was signed by Charles T. <br />Dye, non -collusion affidavit <br />was in order and a 5% bid <br />bond accompanied the bid. <br />The bid received from the Selge Construction Company was not sub- <br />mitted on a Bid Form 96, as prescribed by the State Board of Accounts <br />and the bid was rejected. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board referred the bids <br />to the Division of Engineering for review and recommendation. <br />PUBLIC HEARING ON ASSESSMENT ROLL - VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3395 <br />This being the date set, hearing was held on the Assessment Roll for <br />Vacation Resolution No. 3395 for the vacation of the north -south alley <br />between Carroll and Columbia Streets from Bronson Street south, <br />one hundred and thirty-nine (139) feet, City of South Bend. The Clerk <br />tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune <br />and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. <br />No remonstrators appeared and no written remonstrances having been <br />filed, upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Assessment Roll <br />showing no net damages and no net benefits was approved as adopted <br />and said resolution is in all things ratified and confirmed and said <br />proceedings closed. <br />ADOPTION OF ASSESSMENT ROLL - VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3398 <br />Rollin E. Farrand, City Engineer, files an Assessment Roll showing <br />the award of damages and assessment of benefits in Vacation Resolution <br />No. 3398 for the vacation of a portion of Chippewa Avenue from the <br />east line of Miami Hills Addition southwest and west a distance of <br />765.07 feet. All in the property of First Community Development <br />Corporation. <br />The following property may be injuriously or beneficially affected <br />by such vacation: the southerly portion of that property owned by <br />First Community Development Corporation. <br />
