REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 7, 1974 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works convened'at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, January 7, 1974 with all members present. City/ Attorney James A. Roemer -was also present. Minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed and approved. OPENING OF BIDS - VENTILATION'SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS, MUNICIPAL SERVICES FACILITY This was the date set for receiving bids for the Ventilation System Improvements at the Municipal Services Facility. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: Ideal Consolidated, Inc. Bid was signed by Ernest L. Brovold, non -collusion affidavit was in order and a 5% bid bond accompanied the bid. Total Bid - $26,313.64 Slutsky-Peitz Plumbing v Heating Bid was signed by Harold E. Slutsky, non -collusion affidavit was in order, and a 5% bid bond accompanied the bid. Total Bid - $27,171.00 Andrew Troeger & Co., Inc, Bid was signed by Andrew C. Troeger,, non -collusion affidavit was in order y; and a 5% bid bond accompanied the bid. Total Bid - $34,970.00 United Heating & Plumbing, Inc. Bid was signed by Ervin M. Swift, non -collusion affidavit was in order and a 5% bid bond accompanied the bid. Total Bid - $29,592.00 Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the bids were referred to the Division of Engineering for review and recommendation. HEARING ON ASSESSMENT ROLL -,VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3387, 1973 This being the date set for holding a hearing on the Assessment Roll of Vacation Resolution No. 3387, 1973, hearing was held for the vacation of the east -west alley between Hill Street and St. Louis Avenue from the east right-of-way line of Hill Street to the west right-of-way line of the north -south alley between Colfax and Washington Streets, situated between Lots 147 and 148 as shown on the Recorded Plat of the Town of Lowell, now part of the City of South Bend, The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News on December 7, 14 and 21, 1973 which were.found to be sufficient. No remonstrators appeared and no written remonstrances having been received, upon -notion made, seconded and carried, the Assessment Roll showing no net damages and no net benefits was approved as adopted and said Resolution is in all things ratified and confirmed and said proceedings closed. APPROVAL OF CIVIC CENTER CLAIMS Mr. Charles F. Lennon, Jr., Director of the Department of Redevelopment, appeared before the Board and presented claims for the Architect for the Civic Center, for Programming, Pre -Schematic Services and Traveling Expense, in the total amount of $76,788.45. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the payment request, APPROVAL OF REQUEST TO SELL BUREAU OF FIRE CONSOLES The Board received a request from Fire Chief Jack R. Bland for permission to sell three console recorders no longer in use. Captain DeClercq of the Bureau of Fire estimates their value at,$125.00 each and there had been an inquiry from the City of Elkhart in regard to purchasing the recorders. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the recommendation and authorized the sale of the three console recorders.
