REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 7, 1974 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works convened'at 9:30 a.m. on <br />Monday, January 7, 1974 with all members present. City/ Attorney James A. <br />Roemer -was also present. Minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed and <br />approved. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - VENTILATION'SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS, MUNICIPAL SERVICES FACILITY <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for the Ventilation System Improvements <br />at the Municipal Services Facility. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication <br />of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found <br />to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: <br />Ideal Consolidated, Inc. Bid was signed by Ernest L. Brovold, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 5% bid bond accompanied the bid. <br />Total Bid - $26,313.64 <br />Slutsky-Peitz Plumbing v Heating Bid was signed by Harold E. Slutsky, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in order, <br />and a 5% bid bond accompanied the bid. <br />Total Bid - $27,171.00 <br />Andrew Troeger & Co., Inc, Bid was signed by Andrew C. Troeger,, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />y; and a 5% bid bond accompanied the bid. <br />Total Bid - $34,970.00 <br />United Heating & Plumbing, Inc. Bid was signed by Ervin M. Swift, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 5% bid bond accompanied the bid. <br />Total Bid - $29,592.00 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the bids were referred to the Division <br />of Engineering for review and recommendation. <br />HEARING ON ASSESSMENT ROLL -,VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3387, 1973 <br />This being the date set for holding a hearing on the Assessment Roll of <br />Vacation Resolution No. 3387, 1973, hearing was held for the vacation of the <br />east -west alley between Hill Street and St. Louis Avenue from the east right-of-way <br />line of Hill Street to the west right-of-way line of the north -south alley <br />between Colfax and Washington Streets, situated between Lots 147 and 148 as shown <br />on the Recorded Plat of the Town of Lowell, now part of the City of South Bend, <br />The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune <br />and the Tri-County News on December 7, 14 and 21, 1973 which were.found to be <br />sufficient. <br />No remonstrators appeared and no written remonstrances having been received, <br />upon -notion made, seconded and carried, the Assessment Roll showing no net <br />damages and no net benefits was approved as adopted and said Resolution is in <br />all things ratified and confirmed and said proceedings closed. <br />APPROVAL OF CIVIC CENTER CLAIMS <br />Mr. Charles F. Lennon, Jr., Director of the Department of Redevelopment, <br />appeared before the Board and presented claims for the Architect for the Civic <br />Center, for Programming, Pre -Schematic Services and Traveling Expense, in the <br />total amount of $76,788.45. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board <br />approved the payment request, <br />APPROVAL OF REQUEST TO SELL BUREAU OF FIRE CONSOLES <br />The Board received a request from Fire Chief Jack R. Bland for permission to <br />sell three console recorders no longer in use. Captain DeClercq of the Bureau <br />of Fire estimates their value at,$125.00 each and there had been an inquiry <br />from the City of Elkhart in regard to purchasing the recorders. Upon motion <br />made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the recommendation and authorized <br />the sale of the three console recorders. <br />
