2 <br />A <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />SEPTEMBER 30, 1976 <br />A special meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened <br />at 11:15 a.m, on Thrusday, September 30, 1976 with Peter H. <br />Mullen and Thomas J. Brunner, Jr, present. <br />14ICHIANA AIR SALUTE - REQUEST FOR PARKING BAN APPROVED <br />The Board received a request from Michiana Air Salute asking <br />for a parking ban from 3:00 a.m, on Saturday, October 2 <br />through 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 3, 1976 at the following <br />locations: <br />1. On Progress Dr. between Commerce Dr. & Kenmore St. <br />2. On Maplewood Ave., from Progress Dr. to a point <br />approximately 500 feet S. of Progress Dr. <br />3. On Knoblock St. from Progress Dr, to a point <br />approximately 500 feet S. of Progress Dr. <br />4. On Sheridan Dr. to Progress Dr. to a point <br />approximately 500 feet S. of Progress Dr. <br />5. On Lathrop St. from Bendix Dr. Westward to the <br />City Limits. <br />6. On Foundation Dr. from Lathrop Northward to <br />Foundation Court., <br />The Board received a recommendation from Joseph J. Pluta, <br />Assistant Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and <br />from Captain James Sweitzer and Chief Michael C. Borkowski of <br />the Police Department. Both departments indicated they have <br />no objections to the parking ban and recommended approval. <br />The Police Department also stated that they would enforce the <br />parking ban and provide traffic control at the above locations. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. Mullen, seconded by Mr. Brunner and <br />carried, the request of Michiana Air Salute for a parking ban <br />was approved. <br />U.S. AIR FORCE REQUEST TO BLOCK ALLEY ADJACENT TO WATER WORKS <br />The Board of Public Works received a request frori the United <br />States Air Force to park three buses and one truck in an alley <br />adjacent to the Water Works from 5:30 p.m, to 9:30 p.m. on <br />Thursday, September 30, 1976. The Air Force Band's Rock Group, <br />Mach I. will be performing at the Morris Civic Auditorium at <br />3:00 p.m. Battalion Chief Edward Szymkowiak of the Fire Inspec- <br />tion Bureau reviewed the request and recommended to the Board <br />that the vehicles not be allowed to park there because it would <br />be a fire hazard by obstructing entrance and exit of their fire <br />trucks. He further recommended the buses be parked at the <br />parking lot in the rear of the Water Works. Upon notion made <br />by Mr. Mullen, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board <br />approved the parking of three buses and one truck in the <br />parking lot in the rear of the Water Works by the United States <br />Air Force. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, upon <br />motion made, seconded and carried, the meeting adjourned at <br />11:20 p.m. <br />In the absence of Patricia DeClercq, Clerk of the Board of Public <br />Works, I, Maryrose Putz, am assuming all espo sibility for the <br />Board of Public Works meet or Septpfi er 30, 1976. <br />ATTEST: <br />Patricia DeClercq, Clerk <br />
