SPECIAL MEETING
JUNE 24, 1976
CD
1
A special meeting of the Board of Public --Works was convened
at 3:10 p.m. on Thursday, June 24, 1976 by"President Rollin .
Farrand with'Mr. Farrand, Mr. Brunner and Mr.,Mullen present.
Mr. Farrand explained that the purpose of the special meeting
was to consider the application of the St. Joseph County Right
to Life Group for 'a booth at the Ethnic Festival on July 3, 4
and 5. The application had been tabled for review by the
City Attorney. Mr. Brunner said the application was being handled
at a special meeting of the Board so that the Right to Life Group,
could be advised of the Board's decision and make their plans_
accordingly. Mr. Brunner recommended that the application of the
St. Joseph County Right to Life Group be approved for the reason
that, upon further investigation, it is clear that the Right to
Life booth will be promoting a theme whichIs consistent with
the Ethnic Festival Bicentennial Celebration; to wit, Right to
Life.- Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. The Legal
Department feels that this is within the spirit of the Festival
and the group should be allowed to have a booth. Mr. Farrand
made a motion that the Board accept the recommendation of the
City Attorney and approve the application of the St. Joseph County
Right to Life Group for a booth at the Ethnic;Festival on July
3, 4 and 5. Mr. Mullen seconded the motion and it carried.
The special meeting, upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded
by Mr. Brunner and carried, adjourned at 3:20 p.m.
ATTEST:
Patricia DeClercq, Clerk
nllin F Farranrl
