0 <br />REGULAR MEETING OCTOBER 6, 1975 <br />David Rydzinski was present and advised the Board that this <br />structure is planned as a single family residence. He said the lot <br />was purchased at a cost of $7500. He said the architect who <br />prepared the plans was present. Donald Smith, of Welker Associates <br />of Elkhart, Indiana, then submitted to the Board plans for the <br />remodeling of the two structures into a single residence with an <br />attached garage. The finished structure will have 1800 square feet. <br />Mr. Smith said plans have been reviewed by the Building Department. <br />Mr. Farrand asked Mr. Smith if this lot was out -.,.of the flood_,pla.n <br />area and Mr. Smith said that it was. Mr. Barcome said it was his <br />understanding that one of the reasons for asking for approval today <br />was that the Community School Corporation wants the structures moved <br />from its property this week. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, <br />the Board approved the move of the structures, subject to approval <br />of the route by the Bureau of 'traffic and Lighting and the Police <br />Department Traffic Detail and subject also to confirmation of the <br />fact that the property is not in the flood plain area. The matter <br />will be on the agenda next Monday. The Clerk was directed to send <br />a letter to Mr. King at School City asking them for a delay until <br />next Monday, October 13. <br />AWARDING OF BIDS - ROCK SALT AND LIQUID CALCIUM CHLORIDE <br />John Baumgartner, Director of the Division of Transportation, <br />recommended that the Board accept the low bid of the Domtar Chemical <br />Company for rock salt. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, <br />the Board accepted the low bid of the Domtar Chemicals, Inc. for <br />10,000 tons of rock salt at $13.79 per ton, Total Bid - $137,900. <br />Mr. Baumgartner also recommended that the Board accept the low bid <br />of Orbie of Illiana, Inc. for liquid calcium chloride. Upon motion <br />made, seconded and carried, the Board accepted the low bid of Orbie <br />of Illiana, Inc. for 100,000 gallons of liquid calcium chloride at <br />$15.5 per gallon, Total Bid - $15,500. <br />ADOPTION OF VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3421 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the following resolution <br />was adopted: <br />VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3421 <br />RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, <br />INDIANA, That it is desirable to vacate the following: <br />Iowa Street from the south right-of-way line of Prast <br />Boulevard to the north right-of-way line of Westmoor Street. <br />Kentucky Street from the south right-of-way line of Prast <br />Boulevard to the north right-of-way line of Westmoor Street. <br />Reserving the rights and easements of all Utilities and the Municipal <br />City of South Bend, Indiana, to construct and maintain any facilities <br />including, but not limited to, the following: electric, telephone, <br />gas, water, sewer, surface water control structures and ditches,within <br />the vacated right of way, unless such rights are released by the <br />individual Utilities. <br />The following property may be injuriously or beneficially affected by <br />such vacation: <br />Lot Nos. 181, 182, 183 in Westchester Second Unit <br />Notice of this Resolution shall be published on the loth and 17th day <br />of October, 1975 in the South Bend Tribune and in the Tri-County <br />News. <br />This Board, at its office, on the 3rd day of November, 1975 at <br />9:30 o'clock, A.M., will hear and receive remonstrances from all <br />persons interested in or affected by these proceedings. <br />1 <br />
