AUGUST 11, 1975 REGULAR MEETING A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, August.11, 1975 by Chairman Rollin E. Farrand with all members present. Deputy City Attorney Kathleen Cekanski was also present. Minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed and approved. OPENING OF BIDS - POLICE DEPARTMENT TRANSCEIVERS This was the date set for receiving bids for 10 portable transceivers for the Bureau of Police. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: Meade Electric Company Bid was signed by Robert Magnetti non -collusion affidavit was in order and a 10% bid bond was submitted. Bid - 10 Transceivers @ $1,020.00 - Total Bid - $10,200.00 Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the bid was referred to the Bureau of Police for review and recommendation. r+� RECOMMENDATION - CENTURY CENTER BIDS The following recommendation was received: "Board of Public Works 1308 County -City Building South Bend, Indiana Gentlemen: This office has completed the compilation of bids received for Century Center. The attached bid summary lists the apparent low bidders for each division of work. The dollar value associated with each of these divisions reflects the base bid less acceptable voluntary alternates, where applicable. In all cases, voluntary alternates were applied to the low base bid. CC800 Hollow Metal, at $205,000 by J. W. Werntz Company is considered by this office to be a very high bid and unacceptable at this point in time. In that this was the only bid received on this work, it is the recommendation of this office that the Board of Works attempt to negotiate a more satisfactory price with this bidder. Should these negotiations prove to be unsatisfactory, it is recommended that this work be readvertised at a later date. CC1004, Movable Partitions, at $145,540 by Old Fort Supply is listed separately as award of this contract is dependent upon funding by others. Also listed is the division of costs for this work. Figures listed under EDA and Contract I will be the responsibility of the City of South Bend; while those figures listed under Contract II shall be the responsibility of the Civic Center Building Authority.
