M <br />REGULAR MEETING JULY 28, 1975. <br />OPENING OF BIDS CURB TTH DRAINAGE STRUCTURES-WESTMOOR STREET <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for the construction of <br />2750 feet of curb with drainage structures on Westmoor Street. The <br />Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend <br />Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. <br />The following bids were opened and publicly read: <br />Rieth-Riley Construction Co. Bid was signed by Richard Ruhlman, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 5% bid bond was submitted. <br />Bid - $28,027.65 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the bids were referred <br />to the Bureau of Public Construction for review and recommendation. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - CURB AND SIDEWALK, BOWMAN CEMETERY <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for the construction of <br />curbs and sidewalk at Bowman Cemetery on Miami Street. The Clerk <br />tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune <br />and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. The <br />following bids were opened and publicly read: <br />Rieth-Riley Construction Co. Bid was signed by Richard Ruhlman, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in <br />order and a 5% bid bond was submitted. <br />Bid - $6,991.00 <br />McIntyre & Jones Construction Co. Bid was signed by Kenneth McIntyre, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in <br />order and a 5% bid bond was submitted. <br />Bid - $6,954.00. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the bids <br />were referred to the Bureau of Public Construction for recommendation. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - WALNUT STREET AND GRAND TRUNK WESTERN RAILROAD <br />RETAINING WALLS AND SIDEWALK <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for the construction of <br />retaining walls and sidewalk on Walnut Street at the Grand Trunk <br />Western Railroad. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of <br />notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were <br />found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly <br />read: <br />Ziolkowski Construction Co. Bid was signed by Ben Ziolkowski, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 5% bid bond was submitted. <br />Bid - $52,459.90 <br />Upon motion made,'seconded and carried, the bids were referred to <br />the Bureau of Public Construction for review and recommendation. <br />COMPLAINT RE: TREES AND PLANTS ON RIVER BEND PLAZA <br />Mrs. Janet Allen was present and asked the Board about the <br />responsibility for replacement of deed trees and plantings on the <br />Plaza. Mr. Seitz noted that the responsibility lies with the <br />contractor until March of 1976. He suggested that he might have <br />someone from the Park Department Staff check the condition of the <br />trees and plants. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the <br />Board authorized Mr. Seitz to have the condition of the trees, shrubs <br />and plants on the Plaza checked and to contact the contractor <br />regarding replacement. <br />
