REGULAR MEETING NOVEMBER 7, 1977 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.m, on Monday, November 7, 1977 by President Patrick McMahon <br />with Mr. McMahon, Mr. Brunner and Mr. Mullen present. Deputy <br />City Attorney Terry A. Crone was also present. <br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED <br />Mr. McMahon reported that the minutes of the October 31, 1977 meeting <br />had been reviewed and he made a motion that they be accepted as <br />submitted. Mr. Brunner seconded the motion and it carried. <br />BUREAU OF SOLID WASTE SCHEDULE FOR NOVEMBER 11 ANNOUNCED <br />The Bureau of Solid Waste submitted notification to the Board that <br />regular pick-up would be made by the Bureau on Friday, November 11, <br />1977, Veteran's Day. Mr. McMahon made a motion that the notificiation <br />be filed, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried. <br />BID ADVERTISING APPROVED - FIRE DEPARTMENT UNIFORMS AND UNIFORM EQUIPMENT <br />Chief Oscar Van Wiele requested that the Board approve advertising <br />for bids for uniforms and uniform equipment for new men on the <br />Department. It is estimated the dollar amount of the bid will be <br />between $3000 and $6000 and detailed specifications were included. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, <br />the Board approved the request to advertise and sealed bids will be <br />received on November 21, 1977. <br />BID ADVERTISING APPROVED - FIRE HOSE <br />The Board received a request from Chief Oscar Van Wiele to advertise <br />for bids for fire hose. Detailed specifications were attached. <br />There was a discussion of the specifications written last year and <br />a rebid changing the specifications to allow bidders to take exception <br />to brand names specified by bidding their equivalent. The Board <br />indicated they would like the specifications to follow the outline <br />set last year. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. <br />Brunner and carried, the Board approved the request and sealed bids <br />will be received on November 21, 1977. <br />USE OF FIRE STATIONS FOR COLLECTION OF TOYS APPROVED <br />Chief Oscar Van Wiele submitted to the Board the request of the <br />Marine Corps League to use Fire Stations as collection points for <br />the Toys for Tots Program. The Chief recommended approval of the <br />request. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen <br />and carried, the request was approved. <br />APPROVAL OF CONTRACT FOR GENERAL CONSTRUCTION - REMODELING OF LEGAL <br />DEPARTMENT AND ACCEPTANCE OF BID ITEM FOR CARPETING <br />Mr. McMahon noted that the Board had accepted the low bid of the <br />Ziolkowski Construction Company for Item 1, General Construction for <br />remodeling of the Legal Department Office, in the amount of $4,541.00. <br />The Contract has been executed by the Ziolkowski Construction Company <br />and has been submitted for approval, along with the Insurance <br />Certificate and Performance and Payment Bonds. Upon motion made by <br />Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the contract was <br />approved and the bonds filed. <br />Mr. McMahon noted that -Mr: Brunner would now like to accept Item 2 <br />of the bid, Carpeting, for which Ziolkowski Construction Company <br />submitted the low bid of $1,290.00. Mr. McMahon made a motion that <br />the Board accept the carpeting bid of Ziolkowski Construction Company, <br />subject to available funding. Mr. Mullen seconded the motion and <br />it carried. <br />
