REGULAR MEETING OCTOBER 24, 1977 D. Install "No Parking This Side" on south side of Vine Street for two -block area between 20th and Ironwood because of the narrow width of pavement at the entrance to the IUSB parking lot. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the installation was approved. BOND APPROVED - JOHN ARMSTEAD Ray S. Andrysiak, Bureau of Engineering, reported to the Board that a Contractor's Bond for John Armstead was properly executed and submitted and could be approved. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the bond was approved. INDIANA CABLEVISION BOND RELEASED The Surety Company which furnished the bond for Indiana Cablevision Company requested that the bond be released by the Board. Ray S. Andrysiak, Bureau of Engineering, reported that he had reviewed the bond and it could be released. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the bond was released. CLAIMS APPROVED Michael L. Vance, Chief Deputy City Controller, submitted to the Board Claim Docket Numbers 18226 through 18694 and recommended approval. Mr. McMahon made a motion that the Board approve Claim Docket Numbers 18226 through 18694 and that checks for payment be issued. Mr. Mullen seconded the motion and it carried. STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORT FILED The Street Light Outage Report for the period October 17 through 21 was received. The report indicated 126 outages. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the report was ordered filed. LETTER RE: TRAFFIC PROBLEM ON BENDIX DRIVE AND VOORDE DRIVE The Board received a letter from Leonard Tucker_: calling attention to a traffic problem on Bendix Drive at Voorde Drive. Mr. Tucker asked that consideration be given to installation of a traffic signal at this corner and cited traffic delays and accidents, including a recent accident where a car driven by his daughter was demolished. He called attention to possible sight problems occurring in the Weyer- haeuser Company parking lot. Mr. McMahon said, as a statement of policy from the Department of Public Works, signals are not installed for the purpose of slowing traffic down. He made a motion that the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting look into the situation at the Weyer- haeuser Company lot to determine whether there is a sight problem at the intersection and that John DeLee, Building Commissioner, be asked to investigate any sight problem caused by shrubbery in the area. The Police Department Traffic Bureau will be asked to look into enforcement procedures in this area.
