REGULAR MEETING <br />OCTOBER 17, 1977 <br />1 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.m, on Monday, October 17, 1977 by President Patrick <br />McMahon, with Mr. McMahon, Mr. Brunner and Mr. Mullen present. <br />Deputy City Attorney Terry A. Crone was also present. <br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED <br />Mr. Mullen reported that he had reviewed the minutes of the October <br />10, 1977 meeting of the Board and he made a motion that the minutes <br />be approved as submitted. Mr. McMahon seconded the motion and it <br />carried. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - CENTURY CENTER PARKING LOT <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for construction of the <br />Parking Lot at Century Center. The Clerk tendered proofs of <br />publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County <br />News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were <br />opened and publicly read: <br />Rieth Riley Construction Company Bid was signed by Richard Ruhlman, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 5% bid bond was submitted. <br />Bid - $206,971.54 <br />Walsh & Kelly, Inc. Bid was signed by Thomas Walsh, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in <br />order and a 5`/o bid bond was submitted. <br />Bid - $220,963.90 <br />Arco Engineering Construction <br />Bid - $196,862.73 <br />Bid was signed by William Reiff, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 5% bid bond was submitted. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, <br />the bids were referred to the Division of Engineering for review and <br />recommendation. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT FOR CENTURY CENTER <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for Tools and Equipment <br />for Century Center. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of <br />notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which <br />were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened: <br />National Mill Supply Company Deputy City Attorney Terry Crone <br />reviewed the bid and advised the Board that no bid bond or certified <br />check was submitted in accordance with the Notice to Bidders. The <br />Board directed that they be contacted and informed that if they <br />submit a bid bond by 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 1977, their <br />bid can be considered. If no bid bond or certified check is submitted <br />by the time stipulated the bid will be rejected as being non -responsive <br />to the published Notice to Bidders. <br />South Bend Supply Company Bid was signed by A. F. Verduin, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a certified check was submitted. <br />Mr. McMahon noted that they bid a number of items listed in the <br />specifications but did not bid every item. <br />Bid - $4,963.48 <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried <br />the bids were referred to Brian Hedman, Executive Director of Century <br />Center for review and a recommendation for possible award at a special <br />meeting of.the Board scheduled for Tuesday, October 18, 1977 at 9:30 a.m. <br />
