REGULAR MEETING OCTOBER 17, 1977 1 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:30 a.m, on Monday, October 17, 1977 by President Patrick McMahon, with Mr. McMahon, Mr. Brunner and Mr. Mullen present. Deputy City Attorney Terry A. Crone was also present. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED Mr. Mullen reported that he had reviewed the minutes of the October 10, 1977 meeting of the Board and he made a motion that the minutes be approved as submitted. Mr. McMahon seconded the motion and it carried. OPENING OF BIDS - CENTURY CENTER PARKING LOT This was the date set for receiving bids for construction of the Parking Lot at Century Center. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: Rieth Riley Construction Company Bid was signed by Richard Ruhlman, non -collusion affidavit was in order and a 5% bid bond was submitted. Bid - $206,971.54 Walsh & Kelly, Inc. Bid was signed by Thomas Walsh, non -collusion affidavit was in order and a 5`/o bid bond was submitted. Bid - $220,963.90 Arco Engineering Construction Bid - $196,862.73 Bid was signed by William Reiff, non -collusion affidavit was in order and a 5% bid bond was submitted. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the bids were referred to the Division of Engineering for review and recommendation. OPENING OF BIDS - TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT FOR CENTURY CENTER This was the date set for receiving bids for Tools and Equipment for Century Center. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened: National Mill Supply Company Deputy City Attorney Terry Crone reviewed the bid and advised the Board that no bid bond or certified check was submitted in accordance with the Notice to Bidders. The Board directed that they be contacted and informed that if they submit a bid bond by 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 1977, their bid can be considered. If no bid bond or certified check is submitted by the time stipulated the bid will be rejected as being non -responsive to the published Notice to Bidders. South Bend Supply Company Bid was signed by A. F. Verduin, non -collusion affidavit was in order and a certified check was submitted. Mr. McMahon noted that they bid a number of items listed in the specifications but did not bid every item. Bid - $4,963.48 Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried the bids were referred to Brian Hedman, Executive Director of Century Center for review and a recommendation for possible award at a special meeting of.the Board scheduled for Tuesday, October 18, 1977 at 9:30 a.m.
