REGULAR MEETING <br />SEPTEMBER 6, 1977 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 6, 1977 by President Patrick <br />McMahon, with Mr. McMahon and Mr. Mullen present. Deputy City <br />Attorney Terry A. Crone was also present. Mr. McMahon noted <br />that Mr. Brunner was in court this morning and Mr. Mullen will <br />have to leave the meeting at 9:50 a.m. to attend a bond opening <br />at the Park Department. Therefore, any agenda items not covered <br />when Mr. Mullen leaves will be tabled until this afternoon. <br />REVIEW OF MINUTES <br />Mr. Mullen reported that he had reviewed the minutes of the <br />regular meeting on August 29, 1977 and he made a motion that the <br />minutes be approved as submitted. Mr. McMahon seconded the motion <br />and it carried. Mr. McMahon reported that he had reviewed the <br />minutes of a special meeting held on August 31, 1977 to consider <br />three items; the awarding of a bid for Kitchen Equipment for <br />Century Center, the approval of the use of the Colfax Parking <br />Garage by United Way and approval of an Open Air Stand. Mr. <br />McMahon made a motion that the minutes of the special meeting be <br />approved as submitted. Mr. Mullen seconded the motion and it <br />carried. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - EXTENSION OF STREETS IN AIRPORT INDUSTRIAL PARK <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for the Extension of <br />Streets in the Airport Industrial Park. The Clerk tendered proofs <br />of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County <br />News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were <br />opened and publicly read: <br />Walsh & Kelly, Inc. Bid was signed by Thomas 0. Walsh, <br />South Bend, Indiana non -collusion affidavit was in order and <br />a 10a bid bond was submitted. <br />Bid - $227,690.78 <br />Arco Engineering Construction Co. Bid was signed by William 0. <br />Mishawaka, Indiana Zirkle, non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 10% bid bond was submitted. <br />Bid - $222,192.98 <br />O'Neal Trucking Company Bid was signed by Julius O'Neal, Jr., <br />South Bend, Indiana non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 5% bid bond was submitted. <br />Bid - $271,056.23 <br />Rieth Riley Construction Co. Bid was signed by Chester Skwarcan, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 5% bid bond was submitted. <br />Bid - $224,758.35 <br />Mr. McMahon reported to the Board that the Industrial Foundation <br />has filed documentation of the funding for the project which has <br />been established at 50% from the Economic Development Association <br />and 50% from the Industrial Foundation. Upon motion made by <br />Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the bids were <br />referred to the Industrial Foundation for review and recommendation. <br />
