229 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JUNE 20, 1977 <br />PUBLIC HEARING VACATION RESOLUTION NO, 3442-RESOLUTION CONFIRMED <br />This being the date set, hearing was held on Vacation Resolution <br />No. 3442, for the vacation of Kaley Street, from the south right-of- <br />way line of Kenwood Avenue to the north right-of-way line of Linden <br />Avenue, a distance of 270 feet and also, the east -west alley between <br />Kenwood Avenue and Linden Avenue, running east from the east right-of- <br />way line of Kaley Street to the west right-of-way line of the north - <br />south alley between Kaley Street and Meade Street, a distance of <br />130 feet, all in Kaley's lst Subdivision. Petitioner for the <br />vacation is the Bendix Corporation. The Clerk tendered proofs of <br />publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County <br />News which were found to be sufficient. Miss Mary Smith, Attorney <br />for The Bendix Corporation, was present and said -she would -.'answer any <br />questions. Miss Smith was asked the purpose for the requested <br />vacation and she responded that Bendix owns property surrounding the <br />proposed vacated area and plans to improve their parking facilities. <br />There were no remonstrators present and no written remonstrances <br />were filed with the Board. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded <br />by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board confirmed Vacation Resolution <br />No. 3442 and referred it to the Division of Engineering for the <br />preparation of the Assessment Roll. <br />PUBLIC HEARING - ASSESSMENT ROLL. VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3440 <br />This being the date set, hearing was held on the Assessment Roll <br />with respect to Vacation Resolution No. 3440 for the vacation of <br />the second east -west alley south of Lincolnway West, running from <br />the east right-of-way line of Olive Street east 125 feet to the <br />west right-of-way line of the north -south alley west of Olive Street <br />in Jacob Miller's Subdivision. The Clerk tendered proofs of <br />publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County <br />News which were found to be sufficient. The petitioner for the <br />vacation is David Bjoraas of Dave's Gym. The Assessment Roll <br />indicated. $0.00 net damages and $0.00 net benefits. No remonstrators <br />appeared and no written remonstrances were filed. Upon motion made <br />by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Assessment <br />Roll showing $0.00 net benefits and $0.00 net damages was approved <br />and said Resolution is in all things ratified and confirmed and <br />said proceedings closed. <br />BID ADVERTISING APPROVED - POLICE DEPARTMENT HOME LOCKS <br />Chief Michael Borkowski submitted specifications for home locks <br />to be installed in target areas in the city in connection with <br />the Crime Prevention Lock Program. Locks in the amount of $20,000 <br />are requested and Community Development funds have been requested <br />from the Common Council for this program. Upon motion made by Mr. <br />McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the Board authorized <br />advertising for bids for home locks. <br />BID ADVERTISING APPROVED - POLICE DEPARTMENT COLOR PHOTO LAB EQUIPMENT <br />Chief Michael Borkowski submitted specifications for Color Photo Lab <br />Equipment and requested that the Board advertise for bids. The <br />Department is striving to upgrade photographic technology and has <br />sought funding through the Indiana Criminal Justice Planning. Agencies. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, <br />the Board authorized advertising for the color photo lab equipment. <br />APPROVAL OF JUNE CONTRACT WITH SUE LYNDA SYMONS, CORRECTIONS PLANNER <br />The contract with Sue Lynda Symons, Corrections Project Planner, for <br />the month of June was submitted to the Board by John Cimino, Director <br />of the Criminal Justice Planning Bureau. This is the second of three <br />contracts for professional services with Ms. Symons. Along with the <br />contract, Mr. Cimino submitted an assessment of the.project. The <br />funding for the salary, which is in the amount of $666.66, is provided <br />from state and federal funds for 95%, with the remaining 5% supplied <br />from the Contractual Services Account of the Police Department budget. <br />
