r' . <br />222. <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JUNE 13. 1977 <br />BID AWARDED - PAINTING OF JEFFERSON STREET PARKING GARAGE <br />Joseph Paszli, Manager of Parking Facilities, reported to the Board <br />that he had reviewed the bid received for painting of the -parking <br />garage structures. He noted that.there was a maximum of $24,000 <br />budgeted for the painting. He recommended that the Board accept <br />the low and only bid received from A. Hartke.& Son, Inc. of $23,000 <br />for painting of the Jefferson Street Parking Garage and that no award <br />be made for painting of the Colfax Garage. Upon motion made by Mr. <br />McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board accepted the <br />recommendation and awarded the bid for painting of the Jefferson Street <br />Parking Garage to A. Hartke & Sons, Inc. at a total bid price of <br />$23,000.00. <br />REPORT ON PETITION TO VACATE A PORTION OF' MAPLEWOOD AVENUE <br />The Bureau of Design and Administration reported that the petition <br />of Stanz Realty Company to vacate a portion of Maplewood Avenue had <br />been reviewed and a utility check made. The Department has no <br />objection to the vacation, subject to existing utility easements. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, <br />the report was ordered filed and the petition was referred to the <br />Area Plan Commission for their review and recommendation. <br />REPORT ON PETITION TO VACATE A PORTION OF COLFAX AVENUE AND AN ALLEY <br />The Board received a report from the Bureau of Design and Administra- <br />tion that the petition of St. John's Missionary Baptist Church to <br />vacate a portion of Colfax Avenue and an alley had been reviewed and <br />a utility check made. The Department has no objection to the <br />vacation, subject to existing utility easements. Upon motion made <br />by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the report was <br />ordered filed and the petition was referred to the Area Plan <br />Commission for their review and recommendation <br />TRAFFIC CONTROL RECOMMENDATIONS FOR ETHNIC FESTIVAL APPROVED <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, <br />the following recommendations for traffic control for the Ethnic <br />Festival were approved: <br />1. Parking will be prohibited in the 100 block North and 100 <br />block South Michigan Street on July 1, 2, 3 and 4. <br />2. Both parking garages will be opened on July 3 and 4. <br />3. Free parking is available on all City surface lots on <br />Saturday and Sunday and will be available for July 2 and 3. <br />4. Washington.Street <br />July 2 from 7:00 <br />a.m, to 7:00 p.m. <br />3:00 p.m. <br />will be closed at St. Joseph Street on <br />a.m. to 7:00 p.m., on July 3 from 9:00' <br />and on July 4 from 9:00 a.m, to <br />5. The City vending license fee will be waived for Ethnic <br />Food and/or Craft Booths for July 2, 3 and 4, since these <br />participants are paying a booth fee to the City of South <br />Bend for each booth. <br />6. The Police Department, Fire Department, City Attorney's <br />Office and the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting will be <br />advised of the Board's action regarding this matter and will <br />be kept informed regarding the proposed schedule. These <br />Departments can be expected to cooperate with the River Bend <br />Plaza Office in the promotion of this event. <br />I I <br />
