REGULAR MEETING MAY 23, 1977 APPROVAL OF PUBLIC HEARING FOR REVENUE SHARING APPROPRIATION OF $27,950 FOR DISCOVERY HALL MUSEUM PLANNIIIG Mr. Mullen advised the Board that the City has received a proposal from Joseph A. Wetzel Associates for the first phase in the planning, design and construction of the permanent exhibits in Discovery Hall. The proposal is in the amount of $27,950. Richard Welch, Director of Discovery Hall, was present and said this is a logical first step in planning the exhibit program. Mr. Mullen said Joseph Wetzel is a major museum design firm, in the category of Johnson-Burgee, Architects for Century Center. This phase will determine the total cost for the program, at which time a major fund-raising effort can be made for the maintenance and operation of Discovery Hall. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the Board set Monday, June 6, 1977 at 9:30 a.m. as the time for a public hearing on the revenue sharing appropriation ordinance which will be filed with the Common Council. BLOCK PARTY REQUEST FILED The Board received a request from Mrs. Robert Russell to hold a Block Party on Sunday, June 5, 1977 from 3:30 p.m* until dark on Tasher Street, from Jennings to Michigan. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the request was filed and referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and Police Department for review and recommendation. BLOCK PARTY REQUEST APPROVED A request to hold a Block Party on Memorial Day, May 30, 1977 on Vassar, from Riverside Drive to Woodward Avenue, was submitted to the Board. The -request was submitted by Mrs. Jo Ann Gabrich and hours of the Block Party are to be from noon until dark. Because the Board will not meet again before Meriorial Day, Mr. McMahon made a motion that the request be approved, subject to coordination by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Detail. Mr. Brunner seconded the motion and it carried. BID ADVERTISING APPROVED KITCHEN EQUIPMENT FOR CENTURY.CENTER Patrick PZ. McMahon, Director of Public Works, submitted a request to advertise for bids for kitchen equipment for Century Center. Mr. McMahon explained that this purchase will be made in conjunction with the Hotel -Motel Tax Board and both the City and the Hotel -Motel Tax Board will participate in the purchase. The dates for legal advertising and for receipt of bids will be posted with the Clerk. Upon motion made by PZr. . McMahon, seconded by PZr. . Brunner and carried, the Boar.d'approved the request to advertise for bids. SIGNING OF TITLE SHEET - RIVERSIDE DRIVE IMPROVEIENTS The title sheet approving the plans for the improvement of Riverside Drive, 1000 feet north and south of Northview Drive, was submitted to the Board for approval. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board signed the title sheet approving the plans. STREET LIGHT REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION APPROVED A recommendation from the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for the removal and installation of street lights was submitted to the Board. Mr. McMahon reported that the removals were the result of new lights being installed on mast arms on new traffic signals and/or replacement of existing lights with stronger lights.
