REGULAR MEETING MAY 23, 1977 <br />APPROVAL OF PUBLIC HEARING FOR REVENUE SHARING APPROPRIATION <br />OF $27,950 FOR DISCOVERY HALL MUSEUM PLANNIIIG <br />Mr. Mullen advised the Board that the City has received a proposal <br />from Joseph A. Wetzel Associates for the first phase in the planning, <br />design and construction of the permanent exhibits in Discovery Hall. <br />The proposal is in the amount of $27,950. Richard Welch, Director <br />of Discovery Hall, was present and said this is a logical first step <br />in planning the exhibit program. Mr. Mullen said Joseph Wetzel <br />is a major museum design firm, in the category of Johnson-Burgee, <br />Architects for Century Center. This phase will determine the total <br />cost for the program, at which time a major fund-raising effort can <br />be made for the maintenance and operation of Discovery Hall. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, <br />the Board set Monday, June 6, 1977 at 9:30 a.m. as the time for a <br />public hearing on the revenue sharing appropriation ordinance <br />which will be filed with the Common Council. <br />BLOCK PARTY REQUEST FILED <br />The Board received a request from Mrs. Robert Russell to hold a <br />Block Party on Sunday, June 5, 1977 from 3:30 p.m* until dark on <br />Tasher Street, from Jennings to Michigan. Upon motion made by Mr. <br />McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the request was filed <br />and referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and Police Department <br />for review and recommendation. <br />BLOCK PARTY REQUEST APPROVED <br />A request to hold a Block Party on Memorial Day, May 30, 1977 on <br />Vassar, from Riverside Drive to Woodward Avenue, was submitted to <br />the Board. The -request was submitted by Mrs. Jo Ann Gabrich and <br />hours of the Block Party are to be from noon until dark. Because <br />the Board will not meet again before Meriorial Day, Mr. McMahon made <br />a motion that the request be approved, subject to coordination <br />by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic <br />Detail. Mr. Brunner seconded the motion and it carried. <br />BID ADVERTISING APPROVED KITCHEN EQUIPMENT FOR CENTURY.CENTER <br />Patrick PZ. McMahon, Director of Public Works, submitted a request to <br />advertise for bids for kitchen equipment for Century Center. Mr. <br />McMahon explained that this purchase will be made in conjunction <br />with the Hotel -Motel Tax Board and both the City and the Hotel -Motel <br />Tax Board will participate in the purchase. The dates for legal <br />advertising and for receipt of bids will be posted with the Clerk. <br />Upon motion made by PZr. . McMahon, seconded by PZr. . Brunner and carried, <br />the Boar.d'approved the request to advertise for bids. <br />SIGNING OF TITLE SHEET - RIVERSIDE DRIVE IMPROVEIENTS <br />The title sheet approving the plans for the improvement of Riverside <br />Drive, 1000 feet north and south of Northview Drive, was submitted to <br />the Board for approval. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded <br />by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board signed the title sheet approving <br />the plans. <br />STREET LIGHT REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION APPROVED <br />A recommendation from the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for the <br />removal and installation of street lights was submitted to the Board. <br />Mr. McMahon reported that the removals were the result of new lights <br />being installed on mast arms on new traffic signals and/or replacement <br />of existing lights with stronger lights.
