REGULAR IIEETI14G <br />"Board of Public Works <br />Gentlemen: <br />DECEMBER 13, 1976 <br />December 6, 1976 <br />Re: Traffic Signals, Olive & Prairie <br />(S.R. 23) <br />We are in receipt of your request for assistance in <br />the installation of traffic signals at subject <br />location. lie are informing you that St. Joseph County <br />has no jurisdiction at this intersection since the <br />unincorporated area is entirely that of S.R. #23, <br />which belongs to the Indiana State Highway Commission. <br />lie concur heartily in your efforts to obtain traffic <br />signals at this intersection. In our observation, it <br />has become potentially dangerous within the last several <br />years and needs safety work as soon as possible. <br />If my department, and the County, can be of any assistance, <br />we would be more than happy to help. <br />Very truly yours, <br />s/ William J. E. <br />County Engineer <br />cc: Board of Commissioners <br />Mr. James Schmidt, LaPorte District Engineer it <br />Mr. Farrand noted that the Board had not received any answer to <br />their contact with the Indiana State Highway Commission and further <br />action should await that response. There was a discussion regarding <br />alternative action, in the event the State does not install the <br />signals. Mr. Brunner suggested that the matter be placed on the <br />agenda for the January 4 meeting, at which time the Board will <br />consider further action. Upon motion nade by Mr. Farrand, seconded <br />by Mr. Mullen and carried, the letter was ordered filed and the <br />signal installation natter will be placed on the January 4 agenda. <br />TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICE APPROVED <br />Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, <br />recommended that'the Board approve a 30 minute parking limit <br />at 1015 Lincolnway West. Upon notion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded <br />by Mr. Brunner and carried, the installation was approved. <br />RIVER BEND PLAZA APPLICATION APPROVED <br />Ronald Bock, Director, River Bend Plaza, submitted to the Board <br />an application from the 'Zoological Society to have a booth on the <br />Plaza on December 16 and 18 to secure signatures on a petition for <br />the improvement of the Potowatomi Park zoo. Upon motion made by <br />Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the application <br />was approved. <br />BONDS APPROVED <br />RaIT S. Andrysiak, Bureau of Engineering, reported to the Board <br />that the bonds of Marion Hamilton & Son, Inc. and United Heating <br />and Plumbing, Inc. were properINT executed and could be filed with <br />the Board. Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. Brunner <br />and carried, the bonds were approved and filed. <br />STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORT FILED <br />The Street Light Outage report for the period of December 6 through <br />10 was received. The report indicated seven outages. Upon notion <br />made by Mr_. Farrand, seconded b-NT Mr. Brunner and carried, the <br />report was ordered filed. <br />
