E
REGULAR MEETING
NOVEMBER 22, 1976
LETTER REFERRED REGARDING PAVING OF ALLEY
The Board received a letter from John Kagel of the Chamber of Commerce
transmitting'a request from 11. Eugene Seni, Jr., operator of a discount
tennis pro shop at 321 S. Notre Dame Avenue, that an alley parallel
with the 800 bloc; of Wayne Street needs paving and asking that the
City consider this paving. Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded
by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board referred the request to
the Bureau of Design and Administration for review and recommendation.
INQUIRY RE: HOUSE MOVE PERMIT - MARION STREET TO WEST COLFAX-
Irene Forbes of Southhold Heritage Foundation was present and
inquired about the status of a request for a house move from
314 W. Marion Street to 820 W. Colfax. Mr. Wadzinski, Manager of
the Bureau.of Traffic and Lighting, advised the Board that the route
originally proposed by the mover was to use Lafayette Street and
that street is specifically restricted in the Municipal Code from
any house move. Mr. Wadzinski submitted a report to the Board on
October 11 suggesting an alternate route and stipulating some
conditions regarding the move. The report was accepted by the Board
and transmitted to the house mover. Mrs. Forbes said the mover
has indicated he would be willing to move the house at night or on
Sunday if it would help. Mr. Brunner noted that the Municipal Code
specifically excludes the use of Lafayette, Main and Michigan Streets,
from LaSalle to South, in any house move. He said to grant approval of
use of these streets would be a violation of the code. PTr. Brunner
said amendments to the Code could be proposed but that would not solve
the immediate problem. He recommended that the mover investigate
alternate routes and check them with the Bureau of Traffic and Light-
ing. It was suggested that the move might be made down Williams to
LaSalle to the innerbelt. Mr. Brunner indicated that the Board could
consider using an intersection on LaSalle Street for the move. Mr.
Farrand advised Mrs. Forbes to have the house mover contact Mr.
Wadzinski to work out an acceptable route.
APPROVAL GIVEN FOR SALE OF 413 E. OHIO STREET ON CREDIT TERMS
Deputy City Attorney Georgia Luks advised the Board that she had
prepared a purchase agreement for the sale of 413 E. There was a discussion regarding the Board's policy
on such sales and it was determined that a majority of the city -owned
lots are sold for cash. Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded
by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board authorized Deputy Cite Attorney
Georgia Luks to prepare a purchase agreement for the sale o- 413
E.
