EM <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />SEPTEMBER 13, 1982 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.m., on Monday, September 13, 1982, by President John E. <br />Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski, Mr. Richard L. Hill and Mr. <br />Joseph E. Kernan present. Also present was Assistant City Attorney <br />Carolyn Pfotenhauer. <br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, <br />the minutes of the August 30, 1982, regular meeting of the Board <br />were approved as submitted. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - CONSTRUCTION OF SALT STORAGE FACILITY <br />This was the date set for receiving sealed bids for the construction <br />of a salt storage facility at the Municipal Services Facility. The <br />Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend <br />Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. <br />The following bids were opened and publicly read: <br />Horrall Harrington. Bid was signed by Horrall <br />613 Berlin Road Harrington, non -collusion <br />Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15221 affidavit was in order, and a <br />5% bid bond was submitted. <br />$121,000.00 Alternate: $115,000.00 <br />Harry H. Verkler Contractor <br />645 Wilber Street <br />South Bend, Ind. <br />$133,769.00 <br />Casteel Construction <br />23086 W. Ireland Road <br />South Bend, Ind. <br />$169,000.00 <br />Bid was signed by Garold R. <br />Benjamin, non -collusion <br />affidavit was in order, and a <br />5% bid bond was submitted. <br />Bid was signed by R. V. Casteel, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in <br />order, and a 5% bid bond was <br />submitted. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the above bids were referred to the Division of Transportation for <br />review and recommendation. <br />OPENING AND AWARD OF BIDS - SALE OF ABANDONED VEHICLES <br />This was the date set for receiving and opening sealed bids for the <br />sale of approximately 27 abandoned vehicles, 16 of which are valued <br />at over $100.00 and all of which have been stored at the Hurwich <br />Impoundment Lot, 1610 Circle Avenue. The Clerk tendered proofs of <br />publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County <br />News which were found to be sufficient.
