320 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JUNE 14, 1982 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.m., on Monday, June 14, 1982, by President John E. <br />Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski and Mr. Richard L. Hill present. <br />Also present was Assistant City Attorney Carolyn Pfotenhauer. <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING POSTPONED <br />The minutes of the June 7, 1982, regular meeting of the Board <br />were postponed to the next meeting of'the Board because Mr. <br />Kernan was not present,' and he -.and Mr. Hill were the only two <br />Board members in attendance at that meeting. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - CAR WASHES <br />This was the date set for receiving and opening sealed bids for <br />car washes for City vehicles. The clerk tendered proofs of publica- <br />tion of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News <br />which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened <br />and publicly read: <br />Comet Car Wash <br />Bid was signed by Michael Rodick, <br />1804 Lincolnway West <br />non -collusion affidavit was in <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />order, and a check in the amount <br />of $400.00 was submitted.. <br />Full Service Wash, 0-100 units <br />per month $2.20 each <br />Full Service Wash, 100 or more <br />units per month 2.20 each <br />Wet Wash only, 0-100 units per <br />month 1.75 each <br />Wet Wash only, 100 or more units per month 1.75 each <br />Hi -Speed Auto Wash <br />Bid was signed by Sam Cossman, <br />609 East LaSalle <br />non -collusion affidavit was in <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />order, and a certified check in <br />the amount of $400.00 was submitted <br />Full Service Wash, 0-100 units per month $2.15 each <br />Full Service Wash, 100 or more units per month 2.05 each <br />Wet Wash only, 0-100 units per month 1.65 each <br />Wet Wash only, 100 or more units per month 1.50 each <br />Don's Marathon & Car Wash Bid was signed by Don Zwierzynski, <br />1836 South Michigan non -collusion affidavit was in <br />South Bend, Indiana order, and a certified check in <br />the amount of $400.00 was submitted. <br />Wet Wash only, 0-100 units per month $1.55 each <br />Wet Wash only, 100 or more units per month 1.40 each <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the above bids were referred to the Police Department <br />and Controller's Office for review and recommendation. <br />AWARD BIDS AND APPROVE CONTRACTS - PRAIRIE AVENUE GUARDRAIL <br />PROJECT AND CBD SITE IMPROVEMENTS. PHASE I <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Bureau of Public Construction was <br />recommending the Board award .the low bids of Rieth-Riley Con- <br />struction in the amounts of $7,830.45 for the Prairie Avenue <br />Guardrail Project, and $8,915.00 for the Central Business District <br />Site Improvements, Phase I, in accordance with the bids received <br />by the Board on June 7, 1982. Mr. Leszczynski advised that <br />contracts for the above work had been executed by Rieth-Riley <br />Construction and were now being submitted to the Board for <br />approval pursuant to the low bids awarded. He noted that the <br />required Performance Bond and Labor and Materials Bond for each <br />project were in order and included with the contracts. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the recommendations and contracts for the above projects were <br />approved and the required bonds were filed. <br />0 <br />
