REGULAR MEETING <br />JUNE 27, 1983 <br />275 <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened <br />at 9:32 a.m, on Monday, June 27, 1983, by President John E. <br />Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski, Mr. Richard L. Hill and <br />Mr. Joseph E. Kernan present. Also present was Assistant <br />City Attorney Carolyn V. Pfotenhauer. <br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the minutes of the June 20, 1983 regular meeting <br />of the Board were approved. <br />OPENING OF PROPOSALS FOR INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR SAFETYVILLE <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that June 20, 1983 was the date set <br />for the receiving and opening of proposals for insurance <br />coverage for Safetyville and its related equipment and <br />materials but the opening of bids was postponed until 9:30 a.m. <br />this date for receipt of additional proposals. The following <br />proposals were opened and publicly read: <br />1. The Statesman Group $1,930 for the year 1983-84 <br />George John Belland d/b/a <br />Belland Insurance Services <br />1597 N. Riverside Dr. <br />P.O. Box 1163 <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />2. Travelers Insurance Co. $ 840.00 for the year 1983-84 <br />Aloysius A. Slaby <br />Waterfield Insurance Agency <br />1001 E. Jefferson <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />3. CIGNA Building - $100 deductible <br />James L. Bilinski Rate: $.43 per $100 of value <br />Allied Agency, Inc. Contents & Inventory - $100 <br />413 W. Jefferson deductible <br />P.O. Box 59A Rate: $2.50 per $100 of value <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the above proposals were referred to -Mr. Jack Benchik, <br />Treasurer, Mayor's Citizens Traffic Commission and City of <br />South Bend Safety Director, for review and recommendation. <br />OPENING AND AWARD OF BIDS - PURCHASE OF PAINT AND THE <br />INSPECTION AND SPECIFICATION OF THE TYPE OF PAINT. TO <br />BE USED ON DWELLING HOUSES RECEIVING ASSISTANCE UNDER <br />THE NEIGHBORHOOD PAINT -UP PROGRAM <br />This was the date set for receiving and opening of sealed bids <br />for the purchase of paint and the inspection and specification <br />of the type of paint to be used on dwelling houses receiving <br />assistance under the neighborhood paint -up program. The Clerk <br />tendered.proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend <br />Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be <br />sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: <br />C.E. LEE COMPANY, INC. Bid was signed by William J. Lee, <br />215 South Main Street Vice President, and Robert Urban, <br />South Bend, Indiana Sales Representative, Non -Collusion <br />Affidavit was in order and a bid <br />bond in the amount of $1,500.00 <br />was submitted. Also submitted was <br />a Technical Assistance Statement <br />and a Non -Discrimination Statement. <br />TOTAL AMOUNT OF BID: $352.42 <br />
