REGULAR MEETING APRIL 4, 1983 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:35 a.m., on Monday, April 4, 1983, by Joseph E. Kernan, with Mr. Kernan and Mr. Richard L. Hill present. President John E. Leszczynski was not in attendance. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING DEFERRED Action on the minutes of the March 28, 1983, regular meeting of the Board was deferred to the next meeting of the Board due to the fact that Mr. Leszczynski was not present and he and Mr. Kernan were the only two members of the Board in attendance at the March 28, 1983 meeting. OPENING OF BIDS BRONSON STREET LANDSCAPING IMPROVEMENTS - MONROE PARK AREA This was the date set for receiving and opening of sealed bids for the Bronson Street landscaping improvements in the Monroe Park area. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: HUNZIKERS, INC. Bid was signed by Jerry A. P.O. Box 397 Hunziker, President and David J. 2344 Yankee Street DeWulf, Secretary, Non -Collusion Niles, Michigan 49120. Affidavit was in order and a 5% bid bond was submitted. TOTAL AMOUNT OF BID: $36,937.45 The bid of Hunzikers, Inc. was the only bid submitted. Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above bid was referred to the Engineering Department for review and recommendation. OPENING OF BIDS - SOUTH BEND AVENUE SANITARY SEWER PROJECT This was the date set for receiving and opening of sealed bids for the South Bend Avenue Sanitary Sewer Project. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. Mr. Neil Shanahan, Manager, Bureau of Public Construction, advised that the engineer's estimate on this project is $73,689.00. The following bids were opened and publicly read: HASKINS, INC. Bid was signed by Mark Haskins, 64704 U.S. 31 President and Eileen Haskins, Lakeville, Indiana 46536 Secretary, Non -Collusion Affidavit was in order and a 5% bid bond was submitted. TOTAL AMOUNT OF BID: $48,231.00 H. DE WULF MECHANICAL Bid was signed by Henry DeWulf, CONTRACTOR, INC. President and Nancy Egierski, 58600 Executive Drive Secretary, Non -Collusion Affidavit P.O. Box 986 was in order and a 5% bid bond Mishawaka, Indiana 46544 was submitted. TOTAL AMOUNT OF BID: $52,675.00 HRP COMPANY, INC. Bid was signed by Paul J. Fallon, 1216-18 West Washington General Manager and Jacqueline South Bend, Indiana 46601 Slutsky, Secretary, Non -Collusion Affidavit was in order and a 5% bid bond was submitted. TOTAL AMOUNT OF BID: $43,187.00
