270 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JULY 2. 1984 <br />DENY REQUEST OF ATHLETIC ANNEX TO CONDUCT "STROHS RUN <br />FOR LIBERTY" (OCTOBER 13, 1984) <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager, <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, and Captain Edward Friend, <br />Police Department Traffic Division, have reviewed the request <br />of the Athletic Annex to conduct the "Strohs Run for Liberty" <br />on October 13, 1984 and recommend that the request be denied. <br />Denial is based on the fact that the Notre Dame/Air Force home <br />football game is to be held in South Bend on October 13, 1984 <br />and the necessary manpower needed to assist with the Strohs <br />Run for Liberty will not be available. Upon a motion made by <br />Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above <br />recommendation to deny was accepted and the request denied. <br />APPROVE HANDICAPPED PARKING PERMITS <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the following two (2) handicapped parking permit <br />applications were approved and referred to the Deputy Controller's <br />office for issuance of permits: <br />1. William B. Woods, 4556 Hickory, Apt: 3C, Mish. <br />2. Elma Langley, 24619 Evans Dr., S.B. <br />APPROVE CONTRACTORS BONDS <br />Mr. Melvin Humphrey, Engineering Department, recommended that <br />the Contractor's Bond for James Williams d/b/a D.J..Marble <br />Company, Inc. be approved retroactive to June 25, 1984 and <br />the Contractor's Bond for Ronald Schmanke be approved retroactive <br />to June 26, 1984. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded <br />by Mr. Hill and carried, the above Contractors Bonds were approved. <br />APPROVE RELEASE OF CONTRACTOR'S BOND <br />Mr. Ray S. Andrysiak, P.E., Engineering Department, recommended <br />that the Contractor's Bond for F & F Home Improvement Corporation <br />be released effective July 2, 1984. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above recom- <br />mendation was accepted and the bond released. <br />FILING OF STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORT <br />A report submitted to the Board indicated a total of forty-five <br />(45) outages reported to the City Engineer's office. Mr. <br />Leszczynski advised that the report additionally indicates the <br />dates on which the repairs were made by Indiana and Michigan <br />Electric Company. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the report was filed. <br />FILING OF ENVIRONMENTAL CLEAN-UP OF LOTS REPORT <br />A report from the Department of Code Enforcement indicating a <br />total of one hundred seventeen (117) properties cleaned from <br />June 25, 1984 to June 29, 1984 was submitted. Upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, <br />the report was accepted and filed. <br />APPROVE CLAIMS <br />Mr. Elroy J. Kelzenberg, Executive Director, St. Joseph County <br />Job Training Program, submitted a list containing fifty-five <br />(55) claims and recommended approval. Additionally, City <br />Controller Michael L. Vance submitted Claim Docket No. 12365 <br />through Claim Docket No. 12571 and recommended approval. Upon <br />a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the claims were approved and the reports filed. <br />1 <br />1 <br />C, <br />
