REGULAR MEETING FEBRUARY 21, 1984 SWEARING IN OF NEW BOARD MEMBER - MICHAEL L. VANCE City Clerk Irene K. Gammon was present to swear in Michael L. Vance as the new member of the Board of Public Works. As the new City Controller, Mr. Vance additionally serves as a member of the Board of Public Works. Mayor Roger 0. Parent attended the meeting and thanked Mr. Vance for accepting this new challenge. Board members Mr. Hill and Mr. Leszczynski welcomed Mr. Vance to the Board and to his new position as City Controller. It was noted that Mr. Vance replaces Mr. Joseph E. Kernan who left the City administration on February 17, 1984. The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:35 a.m. on Tuesday, February 21, 1984, by President John E. Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski, Mr. Richard L. Hill and new Board member Michael L. Vance present.. Also present was Assistant City Attorney Carolyn V. Pfotenhauer. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED Upon a motion made by Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the minutes of the February 13, 1984, regular meeting of the Board were approved. OPENING OF BIDS - MAPLE ROAD PAVEMENT PROJECT This was the date set for receiving and opening of sealed bids for the above referred to project. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of Notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: ZIOLKOWSKI CONSTRUCTION, INC. Bid was signed by Ben Ziolkowski, P.O. Box 1106 President and Roberta Ziolkowski, South Bend, Indiana 46624 Secretary, Non -Collusion Affidavit was in order and a 5% Bid Bond was submitted. TOTAL AMOUNT OF BID: $416,850.00 MC INTYRE & JONES CONSTRUCTION Bid was signed by Kenneth A. COMPANY, INC. McIntyre, President and.Dorothy 2526 West 6th Street McIntyre, Secretary, Non -Collusion Mishawaka, Indiana 46544 Affidavit was in order and a 5% Bid Bond was submitted. TOTAL AMOUNT OF BID: $450,680.00 RIETH-RILEY CONSTRUCTION CO.,,INC. Bid was signed by Robert L. P.O. Box 1775 McCormick, Superintendet, Non South Bend, Indiana 46634 Collusion Affidavit was in order and a 5% Bid Bond was submitted. TOTAL AMOUNT OF BID: $459,946.69 THE ROBERT HENRY CORPORATION 404 South Frances Street P.O. Box 1407 South Bend, Indiana 46624 TOTAL AMOUNT OF BID: $429,339.90 Bid was signed by Robert A. Henry,, President, and Stephen R. Henry, Secretary, Non -Collusion Affidavit was in order and a 5% Bid Bond was submitted. Alternate No. 1: Install 9" paving with integral curb - deduct $500.00 Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Engineer's Estimate for this project was $497,000.00. Upon a -motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above bids were referred to the Engineering Department for review and recommendation.
