3 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JANUARY 23. 1984 <br />HURWICH IRON COMPANY, INC. <br />1610 Circle Avenue <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />TOWING <br />1. The bidder will charge $20 per Neighborhood Code <br />Enforcement request for towing regardless if the <br />vehicle is towed. If the automobile is towed the <br />charge will be $30.00 per tow based on normal 4 <br />wheeled automobile. Anything out of the ordinary, <br />such as large trucks, boats, vans, truck trailers <br />ect; will be negotiated between Hurwich Iron Co. <br />and the Neighborhood Code Enforcement. <br />2. Hurwich is able to provide all of the services <br />stated in the specifications for towing of abandoned <br />vehicles and in particular maintains insurance <br />policies, which meet and exceed these requirements <br />requested of the successful contract bidder. <br />3. The bidder presently has towing equipment capable <br />of towing all kinds of vehicles including but.not <br />limited to automobiles, trailers and large diesel <br />trucks & buses. <br />4. Hurwich Iron Co. will not be responsible or liable <br />for any request for towing by Neighborhood Code <br />Enforcement that is ordered towed in error, by <br />the City of South Bend. <br />STORAGE - <br />1. Storage charge will be $1.00 a day per unit. <br />2. Hurwich Iron Co., Inc. is able to provide all of <br />the services set forth in the specifications for <br />storage of abandoned automobiles and in particular <br />maintains insurance policies which meet and exceed <br />those requirements requested of the successful <br />contract bidder. <br />3. The location of the storage facility is at 2016 <br />Washington St., South Bend, Indiana, which said <br />location currently has an approved 1983 City <br />license for storage. This area would be for the <br />sole use of storing said automobiles and is <br />capable of storing in excess of 100 automobiles <br />in compliance with the bid requirements. <br />4. Hurwich Iron Co. has serviced the Board of Public <br />Works in the removal of abandoned automobiles the <br />last 2 years, and -worked hand in hand with Neigh- <br />borhood Code Enforcement in getting the job done <br />for the City of South Bend. Also, we are the only <br />scrap processor to bid on all of the city automobiles <br />in 1982 & 1983 regardless of the condition of the <br />automobiles. <br />5. Hurwich Iron Co. is capable of and will abide by <br />all of the specific requirements for the success- <br />ful bidder for the storage of abandoned vehicles. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan <br />and carried, the above bids were referred to the Department of <br />Code Enforcement for review and recommendation. <br />1 <br />1 <br />
