<br />REGULAR MEETING
<br />DECEMBER 27, 1983
<br />The regular meeting of the.Board of Public Works was convened
<br />at 9:33 a.m. on Tuesday, December 27, 1983, by President John
<br />E. Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski, Mr. Richard L. Hill and
<br />Mr. Joseph.E. Kernan present. Also present was Assistant
<br />City Attorney Carolyn V. Pfotenhauer.
<br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. Kernan and
<br />carried, the minutes of the December 19, 1983, regular meeting
<br />of the Board were approved.
<br />PUBLIC HEARING AND APPROVAL OF REVENUE SHARING FUNDS ($13,000.00)
<br />This was the date set for holding a public hearing on the pro-
<br />osed use of 1984 Revenue Sharing Funds in the amount of
<br />p$13,000.00 to be used for the purchase of a truck to be used
<br />by the Department of Code Enforcement Clean -Up Crew.
<br />The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of Notice in the South
<br />Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be
<br />sufficient. In accordance with the guidelines adopted for
<br />such use of Revenue Sharing Funds, information about this
<br />public hearing was forwarded to the following Senior Citizen
<br />Groups with the request that the notice be posted: Foster
<br />Grandparents, Hansel Neighborhood Center, REAL Services,
<br />Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Senior Citizens Group of
<br />LaSalle Park, Harvest House Centers and Howard Park Senior
<br />Citizens Center.
<br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the $13,000.00 of.Revenue Sharing
<br />Funds will be combined with $15,000.00 in Community Development
<br />Funds to purchase a replacement truck to be used by the Depart-
<br />ment of Code Enforcement Clean -Up Crew. There was no one
<br />present to speak against the proposed expenditure. Upon a
<br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan and
<br />carried, the public hearing on this matter was closed.
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan
<br />and carried, the Clerk was instructed to forward a favorable
<br />recommendation on this appropriation to the Controller's
<br />office and the City Clerk's office along with minutes of
<br />the public hearing on this matter.
<br />PUBLIC HEARING AND RECOMMENDATION - MOVE OF TWO (2)
<br />MODULAR CLASSROOMS FROM GREENE SCHOOL, 24702 ROOSEVELT
<br />ROAD TO 323 SOUTH BENDIX DRIVE
<br />This was the date set for the public hearing on the matter.
<br />of the moving of two (2) modular classrooms from Green School,
<br />24702 Roosevelt Road, South Bend to 323 South Bendix Drive,
<br />South Bend. An application for a Moving Permit was received
<br />from Lykowski Construction Company, 21707 West Ireland Road,
<br />South Bend, Indiana, to move these classrooms.. The size of
<br />the classrooms listed on the application is 28' x 35' x 14'6.
<br />In a memorandum to the Board Mr. Paul L. Roelke, Building
<br />Commissioner, indicated that in addition to the application,
<br />a letter from Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager, Bureau of
<br />Traffic and Lighting, regarding the route to be used, a
<br />site plan and affidavits from Indiana Bell Telephone Company,
<br />Indiana and Michigan Electric Company and Heritage Cable
<br />vision Company were being submitted for consideration. Mr.
<br />Wadzinski recommends approval of the following route:
<br />Roosevelt Road East to Oak Road, thence Oak Road.
<br />North to Sumption Trail, thence, Sumption Trail
<br />North to Mayflower Road, thence Mayflower Road
<br />North to within the City limits to Linden Avenue,
<br />thence Linden Avenue East to Falcon Street, thence
<br />Falcon Street South to Washington Street, thence
<br />Washington Street East to Bendix Street, thence
<br />Bendix South to destination.
