<br />was noted that the Board received by Express Mail an envelope
<br />from Aggregate Equipment, 1601 North Main Street, East Peoria,
<br />Illinois.after the legally published deadline for accepting
<br />bids which contained the Certified Check. Based on the
<br />recommendation of Board Attorney Carolyn V. Pfotenhauer that
<br />the bid be rejected for being -_submitted without proper surety
<br />and the fact that the bid security was received after the
<br />published deadline, upon,a motion made by Mr. Kernan,
<br />seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the bid of Aggregate
<br />Equipment & Supply Company was rejected.
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill
<br />and carried, the bids received were referred to Sean Watt,
<br />Director, Division of Transportation, for review and recom-
<br />mendation.
<br />AWARD BID AND APPROVE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT -
<br />SOBENITE SANITARY SEWER PROJECT
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Neil A. Shanahan, Manager, Bureau
<br />of Public Construction, recommended the Board accept the low
<br />bid of Dye Plumbing and Heating, Inc., 3535 Monroe Street,
<br />LaPorte., Indiana in the amount of $8,353.97. Mr. Leszczynski
<br />advised that bids for this project were opened on November 28,
<br />1983. Mr. Leszczynski further advised that in accordance with
<br />the award of this bid, a contract in said amount was being
<br />submitted for Board approval. Upon a motion made by Mr.
<br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above bid
<br />was awarded and the contract approved. Accordingly, the
<br />appropriate insurance, Performance Bond and Labor and Materials
<br />Payment Bond submitted by Dye Plumbing and Heating were filed.
<br />APPROVE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT - MOVE AND REHABILITATE PORTABLE
<br />CLASSROOM, IMPROVEMENTS TO EXISTING CENTER AND INSTALLATION OF
<br />SIDEWALKS AND PARKING LOT (LA SALLE-FILLMORE NEIGHBORHOOD CENTER)
<br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that in accordance with the bid awarded
<br />on November 21, 1983 to Kaser-Spraker Construction, Inc.,
<br />P.O. Box 3605, 25487 W. State Road 2, South Bend, Indiana, in
<br />the amount of $61,800.00 for the above referred to project,
<br />a contract in said amount was being submitted for Board approval.
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and
<br />carried, the contract was approved and the appropriate insurance,
<br />Performance Bond and Labor and Materials Payment Bond were filed.
<br />APPROVE VEHICLE STORAGE AGREEMENT
<br />Mr. Leszczynski presented to the Board a Vehicle Storage
<br />Agreement between the City of South Bend and TRANSPO indicating
<br />that TRANSPO will provide storage space for three.(3) tractors
<br />owned by the City of South Bend's Department of Code Enforce-
<br />ment in.its facility located at 901 Northside Boulevard,
<br />South Bend, Indiana. The term of the Agreement shall be from
<br />the date of its execution until the tractors are removed
<br />voluntarily by the Department of Code Enforcement or at the
<br />request of TRANSPO. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski,
<br />seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the Agreement was approved
<br />and executed.
<br />PETITION FOR CONSTRUCTION OF SANITARY SEWERS, STREET AND.
<br />STREET IMPROVEMENTS (BRICK ROAD & U.S. 31) REFERRED
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. James P. Conboy, Jr. and Mr.
<br />David L. Matthews, requested that the Board of Public Works
<br />consider by General Improvement Fund Procedures the con-
<br />struction of sanitary sewers, streets and street pavements
<br />on the property at the intersection of Brick Road and U.S. 31
<br />more particularly described in the legal description which they
<br />provided with the letter. The letter further indicated that the
<br />dedication of the necessary right-of-way will immediately follow.
<br />Additionally, it was stated that the property is owned by Mr.
<br />Conboy and Mr. Matthews in its entirety.
