0 <br />REGULAR MEETING DECEMBER 10, 1985 <br />OPENING AND AWARD OF BID SALE OF CITY -OWNED PROPERTY - 427 <br />NORTH EDDY STREET <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that this was the date set for the <br />receiving and opening of sealed bids for the sale of City -owned <br />property at 427 North Eddy Street. Mr. Leszczynski further <br />advised that the property has an appraisal value of $495.00. The <br />Clerk tendered proofs of publication of Notice in the South Bend <br />Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be <br />sufficient. The following bid was received: <br />MR. JOHN FRIEDLINE BID: $495.00 <br />918 E. Jefferson Blvd. <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Upon a motion made by Ms. Barnard, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski <br />and carried, the bid of Mr. John Friedline in the amount of <br />$495.00 was accepted and the matter referred to the City <br />Attorney's office for the drafting of the appropriate Purchase <br />Agreement. <br />ACCEPT AND APPROVE EXTENSION OF OFFER TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED <br />PROPERTY AT THE N.W. CORNER OF LINCOLNWAY WEST AND CHAPIN <br />(INNERBELT) <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Richard W. Morgan, Attorney at <br />Law, Barnes & Thornburg, 600 lst Source Bank Center, South Bend, <br />Indiana, advised that American Plasma Management, Inc., continues <br />the original offer to purchase the above referred to property and <br />has authorized him to inform the Board that their offer is <br />extended to January 31, 1986. Ms. Barnard advised that American <br />Plasma intends to utilize the property for parking and they must <br />apply to the Board of Zoning Appeals for that use but were unable <br />to apply to the BZA in December. It was noted that the Board <br />accepted.the bid submitted by American Plasma on October 28, <br />1985, in the amount of $2,000.00. At that time, American Plasma <br />stated that if their offer to purchase is not accepted and <br />variance granted by the Board of Zoning Appeals by December 31, <br />1985, the offer shall terminate. <br />Upon a motion made by Ms. Barnard, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />the extension of offer to purchase the property for $2,000.00 <br />until January 31, 1986, was accepted and approved. <br />APPROVE CONTRACTS FOR TOWING AND STORAGE OF ABANDONED VEHICLES <br />Ms. Katherine G. Barnard, Director, Department of Code <br />Enforcement, submitted to the Board for approval two (2) <br />Contracts with Steve and Gene's Auto/Truck Salvage and Repair of <br />South Bend, 3109 South Gertrude Street, South Bend, Indiana, one <br />(1) for the towing of abandoned vehicles and one (1) for the <br />storage of abandoned vehicles. Both Contracts are for the period <br />January 1, 1986 through December 31, 1986. Ms. Barnard advised <br />that the Contract for the storage of vehicles has been increased <br />by $50.00 a month from last year's contract. In 1985, the cost <br />of the storing of the vehicles was $550.00 per month and this <br />year, the cost of the storage is being increased to $600.00 per <br />month. The towing Contract amount is the same as in 1985. <br />The Contract for Vehicle Storage indicates that the City shall <br />pay the sum of six -hundred dollars ($600.00) per month, not to <br />exceed seven -thousand two -hundred dollars ($7,200.00) per year <br />for the storage of the abandoned vehicles. <br />The Contract for Vehicle Towing indicates that the City shall pay <br />the following amounts for various services provided: <br />- Regular Towing - $30.00 per vehicle <br />- Rollover Towing - $35.00 per vehicle <br />- Calls to locations where cars have been previously <br />removed and no towing required - $5.00 per call. <br />
