REGULAR MEETING SEPTEMBER 3, 1985 1 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:35 a.m. on Tuesday, September 3, 1985, by President John E. Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski, Ms. Katherine G. Barnard and Mr. Michael L. Vance present. Also present was Assistant City Attorney Carolyn V. Pfotenhauer. APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING Upon a motion made by Mr. Vance, seconded by Ms. Barnard and carried, the minutes of the August 26, 1985, regular meeting..of.. the Board were approved. OPENING OF BIDS - EAST BANK DEMOLITION PHASE II PROJECT This was the date set for receiving and opening of sealed bids for the above referred to project. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of Notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. Mr. Leszczynski advised that this project entails the demolition of three (3) structures, including one house and two buildings formerly occupied and known as Crescent Electric and Luther Beverage. The following bids were opened and publicly read: WAGONER EXCAVATING & WRECKING 1373 S.R. 4 LaPorte, Indiana 46350 Bid was signed by Robert Wagoner, in order and a Treasurer's Check was submitted. ECK CONSTRUCTION 4320 Cottage Avenue Mishawaka, Indiana Bid was signed by David R. Eck, Non -Collusion Affidavit was in order and a 5% Bid Bond was submitted. BID: $33,900.00 Non -Collusion Affidavit was in the amount of $1,700.00 BID: $37,444.00 RITSCHARD BROS., INC. BID: $37,498.00 1204 West Sample Street South Bend, Indiana Bid was signed by Carmelo Ritschard, President and Donald Ritschard, Secretary, Non -Collusion Affidavit was in order and a 5% Bid Bond was submitted. LA FREE EXCAVATING, INC. 11252 West Third Osceola, Indiana 46561 Bid was signed by Richard LaFree, LaFree, Secretary, Non -Collusion 5% Bid Bond was submitted. B & J EXCAVATION, INC. 1737 North Elmer Street South Bend, Indiana Bid was signed by Julius O'Neal, O'Neal, Secretary, Non -Collusion Certified Check in the amount of BID: $42,230.00 President and Bonnie Affidavit was in order and a BID: $36,364.00 Jr., President and Eveline Affidavit was in order and a $1,818.20 was submitted. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the above bids were referred to the Engineering Department for review and recommendation. OPENING OF BIDS - SOUTH STREET CURB IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT This was the date set for receiving and opening of sealed bids for the above referred to project.
