REGULAR MEETING <br />SEPTEMBER 3, 1985 <br />1 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:35 a.m. on Tuesday, September 3, 1985, by President John E. <br />Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski, Ms. Katherine G. Barnard <br />and Mr. Michael L. Vance present. Also present was Assistant <br />City Attorney Carolyn V. Pfotenhauer. <br />APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Vance, seconded by Ms. Barnard and <br />carried, the minutes of the August 26, 1985, regular meeting..of.. <br />the Board were approved. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - EAST BANK DEMOLITION PHASE II PROJECT <br />This was the date set for receiving and opening of sealed bids <br />for the above referred to project. The Clerk tendered proofs of <br />publication of Notice in the South Bend Tribune and the <br />Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. Mr. <br />Leszczynski advised that this project entails the demolition of <br />three (3) structures, including one house and two buildings <br />formerly occupied and known as Crescent Electric and Luther <br />Beverage. The following bids were opened and publicly read: <br />WAGONER EXCAVATING & WRECKING <br />1373 S.R. 4 <br />LaPorte, Indiana 46350 <br />Bid was signed by Robert Wagoner, <br />in order and a Treasurer's Check <br />was submitted. <br />ECK CONSTRUCTION <br />4320 Cottage Avenue <br />Mishawaka, Indiana <br />Bid was signed by David R. Eck, Non -Collusion Affidavit was <br />in order and a 5% Bid Bond was submitted. <br />BID: $33,900.00 <br />Non -Collusion Affidavit was <br />in the amount of $1,700.00 <br />BID: $37,444.00 <br />RITSCHARD BROS., INC. BID: $37,498.00 <br />1204 West Sample Street <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Bid was signed by Carmelo Ritschard, President and Donald <br />Ritschard, Secretary, Non -Collusion Affidavit was in order <br />and a 5% Bid Bond was submitted. <br />LA FREE EXCAVATING, INC. <br />11252 West Third <br />Osceola, Indiana 46561 <br />Bid was signed by Richard LaFree, <br />LaFree, Secretary, Non -Collusion <br />5% Bid Bond was submitted. <br />B & J EXCAVATION, INC. <br />1737 North Elmer Street <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Bid was signed by Julius O'Neal, <br />O'Neal, Secretary, Non -Collusion <br />Certified Check in the amount of <br />BID: $42,230.00 <br />President and Bonnie <br />Affidavit was in order and a <br />BID: $36,364.00 <br />Jr., President and Eveline <br />Affidavit was in order and a <br />$1,818.20 was submitted. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and <br />carried, the above bids were referred to the Engineering <br />Department for review and recommendation. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - SOUTH STREET CURB IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT <br />This was the date set for receiving and opening of sealed bids <br />for the above referred to project. The Clerk tendered proofs of <br />publication of Notice in the South Bend Tribune and the <br />Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. Mr. <br />Leszczynski advised that this project entails curb improvements <br />
