im REGULAR MEETING JULY 15, 1985 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:35 a.m. on Monday, July 15, 1985 by Michael L. Vance with Mr. Vance and Ms. Katherine G. Barnard present. Board President John E. Leszczynski was not in attendance. Also present was Assistant City Attorney Carolyn V. Pfotenhauer. OPENING OF BIDS - NHS CURB AND SIDEWALK REPAIR 1985 PROJECT This was the date set for receiving and opening of sealed bids for the above referred to project. Mr. Joseph J. Pluta, Director, Division of Engineering, advised that the Engineer's estimate for this project is $32,385.00. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of Notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: LA FREE EXCAVATING, INC. BID: $33,899.50 11252 West Third Street Osceola, Indiana 46561 Bid was signed by Richard LaFree, President and Bonnie LaFree, Secretary, Non -Collusion Affidavit was in order and a 5% Bid Bond was submitted. RIETH-RILEY CONSTRUCTION CO., INC. BID: $33,921.50 P.O. Box 1775 South Bend, Indiana Bid was signed by Richard Jankowski, Manager, Conc. Division, Non -Collusion Affidavit was in order and a 5% Bid Bond was submitted. WALSH & KELLY, INC. BID: $43,279.50 24358 State Road 23 South Bend, Indiana Bid was signed by Thomas 0. Walsh, President and John R. Quinn, Assistant Secretary, Non -Collusion Affidavit was in order and a 5% Bid Bond was submitted. Upon a motion made by Mr. Vance, seconded by Ms. Barnard and carried, the above bids were referred to the Engineering Department for review and recommendation. OPENING AND AWARD OF BIDS - SALE OF ABANDONED VEHICLES This was the date set for the receiving and opening of sealed bids for the sale of approximately eighteen (18) abandoned vehicles, eleven (11) of which are valued at over $100.00 and all of which have been stored at Steve and Gene's Auto & Truck Salvage and Repair, 3109 South Gertrude Street, South Bend, Indiana. It was noted that the Board was advised that vehicle number one (1) should be removed from the list of vehicles offered for sale as it was claimed by its owner. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of Notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient.
