im <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JULY 15, 1985 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:35 a.m. on Monday, July 15, 1985 by Michael L. Vance with Mr. <br />Vance and Ms. Katherine G. Barnard present. Board President John <br />E. Leszczynski was not in attendance. Also present was Assistant <br />City Attorney Carolyn V. Pfotenhauer. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - NHS CURB AND SIDEWALK REPAIR 1985 PROJECT <br />This was the date set for receiving and opening of sealed bids for <br />the above referred to project. Mr. Joseph J. Pluta, Director, <br />Division of Engineering, advised that the Engineer's estimate for <br />this project is $32,385.00. The Clerk tendered proofs of <br />publication of Notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County <br />News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were <br />opened and publicly read: <br />LA FREE EXCAVATING, INC. BID: $33,899.50 <br />11252 West Third Street <br />Osceola, Indiana 46561 <br />Bid was signed by Richard LaFree, President and Bonnie LaFree, <br />Secretary, Non -Collusion Affidavit was in order and a 5% Bid <br />Bond was submitted. <br />RIETH-RILEY CONSTRUCTION CO., INC. BID: $33,921.50 <br />P.O. Box 1775 <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Bid was signed by Richard Jankowski, Manager, Conc. Division, <br />Non -Collusion Affidavit was in order and a 5% Bid Bond was <br />submitted. <br />WALSH <br />& KELLY, INC. <br />BID: $43,279.50 <br />24358 <br />State Road 23 <br />South <br />Bend, Indiana <br />Bid was <br />signed by Thomas 0. <br />Walsh, President and John R. <br />Quinn, <br />Assistant Secretary, <br />Non -Collusion Affidavit was in <br />order <br />and a 5% Bid Bond was <br />submitted. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Vance, seconded by Ms. Barnard and <br />carried, the above bids were referred to the Engineering <br />Department for review and recommendation. <br />OPENING AND AWARD OF BIDS - SALE OF ABANDONED VEHICLES <br />This was the date set for the receiving and opening of sealed bids <br />for the sale of approximately eighteen (18) abandoned vehicles, <br />eleven (11) of which are valued at over $100.00 and all of which <br />have been stored at Steve and Gene's Auto & Truck Salvage and <br />Repair, 3109 South Gertrude Street, South Bend, Indiana. It was <br />noted that the Board was advised that vehicle number one (1) <br />should be removed from the list of vehicles offered for sale as it <br />was claimed by its owner. The Clerk tendered proofs of <br />publication of Notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County <br />News which were found to be sufficient.
