REGULAR MEETING MARCH 25, 1985 SWEARING IN OF NEW BOARD MEMBER - KATHERINE G. BARNARD Mayor Roger O. Parent was present at the meeting to welcome new Board member Katherine G. Barnard. Mayor Parent advised that Ms. Barnard will replace City Attorney Richard L. Hill who served on the Board for over five (5) years. Mayor Parent thanked Mr. Hill for his years of dedicated service to the Board. It was noted that Mr. Hill resigned from the Board in order to devote more time to the work of the City Attorney's office. Mayor Parent appointed as his replacement Katherine G. Barnard who is the Director of the Department of Code Enforcement. Ms. Barnard joined the administration in January of 1980 as the director of neighborhood code enforcement. Since that time she has consolidated difficult operations and is currently the Director of the Department of Code Enforcement which now also includes the operations of the Building Department. Mayor Parent welcomed Ms. Barnard and thanked her for accepting the additional duties as a member of the Board of Public Works. City Clerk Irene K. Gammon was present at the meeting and administered the oath of office to Ms. Barnard, swearing her in as a member of the Board of Public Works. Concurring with the sentiments of Mayor Parent, upon a motion made by Mr. Vance, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, former Board member Richard L. Hill was commended for his efforts and dedication as a member of the Board of Public Works for the last five (5) years. REGULAR MEETING CONVENED The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:35 a.m. on Monday, March 25, 1985, by President John E. Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski, Mr. Michael L. Vance and new Board Member Katherine G. Barnard present. Also present was Assistant City Attorney Carolyn V. Pfotenhauer. AGENDA ITEM STRICKEN Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the matter of the Lease between the City, on behalf of the Bureau of Housing and the Board of Park Commissioners was stricken from the agenda as more research on the matter is required. APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING Upon a motion made by Mr. Vance, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski, and carried, the minutes of the March 18, 1985, regular meeting of the Board were approved. OPENING OF BIDS - STREET DEPARTMENT VARIOUS EQUIPMENT: - TWO (2) MECHANICAL SWEEPERS - TWO (2) TANDUM AXLE TRUCKS - TWO (2) SINGLE AXLE TRUCKS ONE (1) FRONT END LOADER TWO (2) ASPHALT DISTRIBUTORS MOUNTED ON NEW CHASSIS This was the date set for receiving and opening of sealed bids for the above referred to equipment. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of Notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read:
