<br />REGULAR MEETING MARCH 18, 1985
<br />ten (10) abandoned vehicles, six (6) of which are valued at over
<br />$100.00 and all of which are being stored at Steve & Gene's Auto &
<br />Truck Salvage and Repair, 3109 South Gertrude Street, South Bend,
<br />Indiana. It was noted that all vehicles have been stored more
<br />than fifteen (15) days, identification checks had been run for
<br />auto theft and the owners and lienholders notified. Upon a motion
<br />made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the
<br />above request was approved and a date of April 1, 1985 was
<br />established for the receiving and opening of sealed bids.
<br />APPROVE REQUEST OF VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS TO CONDUCT ANNUAL
<br />"POPPY DAY SALE" - MAY 17-18, 1985
<br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Joseph J. Pluta, Director,
<br />Division of Engineering and Captain Edward I. Friend, of the
<br />Police Department Traffic Division have reviewed the request of
<br />Donald Mathis, Poppy Chairman, and George Grenert, Quartermaster,
<br />Veterans of Foreign Wars, South Bend Post No. 1167, 1047
<br />Lincolnway East, South Bend, Indiana, to conduct their annual
<br />Poppy Day Sales on the public sidewalks throughout the City on
<br />Friday and Saturday, May 17 and 18, 1985 and recommend approval.
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and
<br />carried, the above recommendation was accepted and the request
<br />approved.
<br />APPROVE REQUEST OF CHET WAGGONER LITTLE LEAGUE TO CONDUCT PARADE -
<br />MAY 11, 1985
<br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Joseph J. Pluta, Director,
<br />Division of Engineering and Captain Edward I. Friend, Police
<br />Department Traffic Division have reviewed the request of Mr.
<br />Daniel C. Dutrieux, Parade Chairman, Chet Waggoner Little League,
<br />P.O. Box 3744, South Bend, Indiana, to conduct their annual
<br />opening day ceremonies beginning with a parade on Saturday, May
<br />11, 1985, and recommend approval. The Little League Park is
<br />located at the rear of the St. Joseph County Highway Garage, 3301
<br />Riverside Drive. The parade would begin at 8:00 a.m. and utilize
<br />the following route:
<br />Begin in the 100 block of West Park Lane which is just north
<br />of Leeper Park, proceed west to Lafayette Boulevard, south on
<br />Lafayette to Navarre, west on Navarre to Portage Avenue, north
<br />on Portage Avenue to Cleveland Road, east on Cleveland Road to
<br />Riverside Drive, and south on Riverside Drive to the Park
<br />entrance.
<br />It was noted that the parade would consist of approximately twenty
<br />(20) private vehicles following a fire truck and being escorted by
<br />a Police Department squad car.
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and
<br />carried, the above recommendation was accepted and the request
<br />approved subject to the filing of the appropriate Indemnification
<br />Agreement.
<br />APPROVE LICENSE APPLICATION - SECONDHAND DEALER
<br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the following one (1) secondhand
