Klosinski, Assistant City Engineer <br />SUBJECT: Agenda Request Form — Title Sheet and Request to Advertise <br />Project No. 116-050 Wastewater Treatment Plant — Digester Gas Utilization <br />DATE: October 18, 2016 <br />The Division of Utilities is requesting the Board of Public Works approval of the Title Sheet and <br />Request to Advertise for the subject Project No. 116-050 Wastewater Treatment Plant Digester <br />Gas Utilization. Design Engineer, Greeley and Hansen, LLC, has completed the engineering <br />design services for the extension of mechanical piping from the WWTP Digester Gas Cleaning <br />System to the Compressor Building and CNG Fuel Station. This is a rebid of the subject project <br />since the bids received at the October 11, 2016 exceeded the Engineer's Estimate and <br />budgeted amounts to construct the project. <br />The objective of this project is to provide additional energy recovery through the extension of <br />mechanical piping to facilitate the use of cleaned digester gas in the Raw Sewage Pump No. 1 <br />engine at the Compressor Building and to provide piping to the CNG Fuel Station located south <br />of the Maintenance Garage / Solid Waste Building at the Wastewater Treatment Plant Site. The <br />City will continue to recover cleaned digester gas in the boiler for Digester No. 2. In addition, <br />piping at the Compressor Building will also be extended to allow recovery of Digester Gas in the <br />Caterpillar Engine which powers one of the air blowers at the Compressor Building. The <br />Caterpillar Engine is exercised weekly and serves as a back-up to the Electric Blowers at the <br />Compressor Building. <br />The following project schedule will follow upon Board of Public Works approval: <br />Friday, November 4, 2016 <br />First Advertisement <br />Friday, November 11, 2016 <br />Second Advertisement <br />Wednesday, November 16, 2016 <br />Pre -Bid Meeting <br />December 3 or 8, 2016 <br />Bid Opening (*) <br />December 8 or 22 or 27, 2016 <br />Bid Award (*) <br />December 2016 <br />Begin Procurement and Construction Activities <br />(*) Dates being finalized at the time this Memo was drafted. <br />The funding source for the project is Wastewater, Capital Account (642-0630-415-43-66). <br />If there are any questions regarding the subject project, please contact Al Greek (Ext. 4210) or <br />Jacob M.
