<br />Board Attorney Thomas Bodnar advised that the bid submitted by
<br />Sicalco, LTD, 5240 W. 123rd Place, Alsip, Illinois, is fatally
<br />defective in that it did not contain bid security. Therefore,
<br />upon a motion made by Ms. Barnard, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski
<br />and carried, the bid was rejected for non-compliance with bid
<br />requirements.
<br />Further, upon a motion made by Ms. Barnard, seconded by Mr.
<br />Leszczynski and carried, the above bids were referred to the
<br />Street Department for review and recommendation.
<br />AWARD BID AND APPROVE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT - AVON THEATRE BRICK
<br />VENEER PROJECT
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Neil A. Shanahan, Manager, Bureau
<br />of Public Construction, recommended that the Board accept the bid
<br />of Ziolkowski Construction, Inc., Box 1106, South Bend, Indiana,
<br />in the amount of $48,680.00 for the above referred to project.
<br />It was noted that bids for this project were opened by the Board
<br />on August 5, 1986. Mr. Leszczynski further advised that in
<br />accordance with the award of this bid, a Contract in said amount
<br />was being submitted for Board approval. Upon a motion made by
<br />Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard and carried, the above
<br />bid was awarded and the Contract approved, subject to the filing
<br />of the appropriate insurance, Performance Bond and Labor and
<br />Materials Payment Bond.
<br />AWARD BID - STATE THEATRE RE -ROOFING AND MISCELLANEOUS REPAIRS
<br />PROJECT
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Neil A. Shanahan, Manager, Bureau
<br />of Public Construction, recommended that the Board accept the
<br />bid of Slatile Roofing & Sheet Metal Company, Inc., 1703 South
<br />Ironwood Drive, South Bend, Indiana, in the amount of
<br />$64,750.00. Mr. Shanahan advised that this contract amount
<br />includes the addition of a voluntary alternate for a 15 year
<br />material warranty (TROCAL S-60 Light System Warranty) in the
<br />amount of $3,400.00. It was noted that bids for this project
<br />were opened by the Board on August 5, 1986. Upon a motion made
<br />by Ms. Barnard, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the
<br />above bid was awarded.
<br />ADOPT RESOLUTION NO. 18-1986 - DISPOSAL OF OBSOLETE VEHICLES AND
<br />MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS
<br />Upon a motion made by Ms. Barnard, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski
<br />and carried, the following Resolution No. 18-1986 was adopted:
<br />RESOLUTION NO. 18-1986
<br />WHEREAS, it has been determined by the Board of Public
<br />Works that the city -owned vehicles and miscellaneous items
<br />listed on the attached sheets are obsolete and no longer needed
<br />or are unfit for the purposes for which they were intended.
<br />WHEREAS, Indiana Code 36-1-11-6 permits the sale of personal
<br />property no longer needed or obsolete.
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Public Works
<br />of the City of South Bend that the sixty-seven (67) vehicles and
<br />miscellaneous items shown on the attachments to this Resolution
<br />are obsolete and not needed by the City of South Bend.
<br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that authorization be granted to
<br />dispose of said vehicles and miscellaneous items at a public
<br />auction in accordance with state law and to thereafter remove
<br />same from the City Inventory.
