REGULAR MEETING <br />APRIL 29. 1986 <br />139 <br />11 <br />1 <br />PETITION FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A RESIDENTIAL PARKING ZONE - <br />SOUTHEAST CORNER OF MAIN AND SOUTH STREETS REFERRED <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. James E. Pickering, Jr., 536 <br />South Main Street, South Bend, Indiana, has submitted to the <br />Board a Petition for the Establishment of a Residential Parking <br />Zone on the southeast corner of Main and South Streets. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard and <br />carried, the Petition was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting in order that a traffic study can be conducted to <br />determine if ordinance requirements are met for the establishment <br />of a restricted residential parking zone. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO CONDUCT THE "SWEET SIXTEENTH" ST. JOSEPH RIVER <br />RUN - MAY 10, 1986 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, <br />Police Department Traffic Division and Fire Department have <br />reviewed the request to conduct the 16th Annual River Run, <br />submitted to the Board on March 11, 1986, and recommend approval. <br />Fire Chief Taylor advised that the Department will provide 2 1/2 <br />divers (two (2) all day, one (1) half a day), two (2) boats and <br />personnel from Rescue 1 and 2 pumpers to cover the river banks <br />and man boats. Additionally, they have arranged for four (4) <br />state police divers to participate. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard and carried, the <br />recommendation was accepted and the request approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO CONDUCT WORLD'S LARGEST GARAGE SALE - JUNE 14, <br />1986 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, <br />Police Department Traffic Division, Fire Department and <br />Redevelopment Department have reviewed the request submitted to <br />the Board on March 4, 1986, to conduct the World's Largest Garage <br />Sale on June 14th at the Colfax Parking Garage and recommend <br />approval. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Ms. Barnard and carried, the recommendation was <br />accepted and the request approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO CONDUCT ETHNIC FESTIVAL AND RELATED ACTIVITIES <br />- JULY 4-6, 1986 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, <br />Police Department Traffic Division and the Fire Department have <br />reviewed the above referred to request submitted to the Board on <br />March 4, 1986 and recommend approval of the following events: <br />1. <br />Ethnic Festival <br />2. <br />Festival <br />Set-up <br />3. <br />Festival <br />Parade <br />4. <br />Festival <br />5 Run <br />5. <br />Bed Race <br />6. <br />Bicvcle <br />Race <br />July <br />5-6, 1986 <br />July <br />2-7, <br />1986 <br />July <br />5, <br />1986 <br />July <br />4, <br />1986 <br />July <br />6, <br />1986 <br />Julv <br />6, <br />L986 <br />11 a.m. - 7 p.m. <br />All Day <br />10 a.m. - NOON <br />8 a.m. <br />10 a.m. - 2 p.m. <br />All Dav <br />Upon a motion made by Mr.. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard <br />and carried, the recommendation was accepted and the request <br />approved. <br />APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICE <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard and <br />carried, the following one (1) traffic control device was approved: <br />1. NEW INSTALLATION, STOP SIGN - On Robinson @ Ewing. <br />(Uncontrolled "T"). <br />
