77
REGULAR MEETING MARCH 11, 1986
Saturday, May 10, 1986. She stated that all events will start at
Leeper Park and finish at St. Patrick's Park. Upon a motion made
by Ms. Barnard, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, this request
was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, Police
Department Traffic Division and Park Department for review and
recommendation.
REQUEST TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY AT 424, 508 AND 510 EAST
SOUTH STREET AND 610 SOUTH FELLOWS REFERRED
Mr. Stephen Luecke, Director, Monroe Park Office of South Bend
Heritage Foundation, 914 Lincolnway West, South Bend, Indiana,
advised that South Bend Heritage Foundation would like to
purchase the above referred to City -owned properties. They
intend to market the lots at 424, 508 and 510 East South Street
as sites for new homes. The lot at 610 Fellows Street will be
used as a potential site for new single-family construction. He
stated that South Bend Heritage Foundation has been working in
Monroe Park for several years. Part of their plan for
revitalizing the residential section has been to develop new
single-family homes on some of the vacant land. This Spring they
expect to build a model home and hope to sell several additional
homes from it. For the project to be successful, they must own
several lots in close proximity so the prospective buyers will
have a choice of sites and will feel confident that more new
homes will be built. Upon a motion made by Mr. Vance, seconded
by Ms. Barnard and carried, the above request was referred to the
necessary City departments and bureaus for a determination as to
whether or not the City need retain the lots for any reason.
APPROVE REQUEST OF MAURICE MATTHYS LITTLE LEAGUE, INC.
PARADE - MAY 3, 1986
Mr. Vance advised that the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the
Police Department Traffic Division have reviewed the request by
the Maurice Matthys Little League, Inc. to conduct a parade, said
request submitted to the Board on February 25, 1986, and
recommend approval. It was noted that the Police Department will
provide an escort for the parade. Upon a motion made by Ms.
Barnard, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the recommendation
was accepted and the request approved.
APPROVE REQUEST OF CHET WAGGONER LITTLE LEAGUE TO CONDUCT PARADE
- MAY 17, 1986
In a letter to the Board, Mr. Daniel C. Dutrieux, Chet Waggoner
Little League, P.O. Box 3744, South Bend, Indiana, advised that
the little league is planning their opening day ceremonies and is
requesting permission to conduct a parade on May 17, 1986
beginning at 8:00 a.m. The route of the parade is as follows:
Begin in the 100 block of West Park Lane (just south of the
Leeper Park duck pond); proceed west to Lafayette Boulevard;
south on Lafayette Boulevard to Navarre Street; west on
Navarre Street to Portage Avenue; north of Portage to
Cleveland Road; east on Cleveland Road to Riverside Drive;
south on Riverside Drive to the Park Entrance (located at the
rear of the St. Joseph County Highway Garage, 3301 Riverside
Drive, South Bend, Indiana).
Mr. Vance advised that the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the
Police Department Traffic Division have reviewed this request and
recommend approval. It was noted that the Police Department will
provide an escort for the parade.
