Im <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />MARCH 11, 1986 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 4, 1986, by Mr. Michael L. Vance with <br />Mr. Vance and Ms. Katherine G. Barnard present. Board President <br />John E. Leszczynski was not in attendance. In the absence of Mr. <br />Leszczynski, Mr. Vance chaired the meeting. Also present was <br />Chief Deputy City Attorney Thomas Bodnar. <br />PUBLIC HEARING - RIVERSIDE DRIVE/RIVERSIDE PLACE SANITARY SEWER <br />PROJECT - STRICKEN FROM THE AGENDA AND MATTER POSTPONED FOR <br />TWENTY-EIGHT (28) DAYS <br />Mr. Vance advised that it is the Board's intent at this time to <br />strike from the agenda the Public Hearing which was to be held <br />today in regards to the above referred to project for a period of <br />thirty (30) days based on the South Bend Common Council's <br />recommendation to do so and also based on Dr. Plain's <br />recommendation that additional time be allowed for review of <br />information and facts of the project. Therefore, upon a motion <br />made by Ms. Barnard, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the <br />Public Hearing on the above referred to project was stricken from <br />the agenda at this time and the matter postponed for twenty-eight <br />(28) days (4 weeks) at which time the Board will go through the <br />readvertisement process in order to conduct a Public Hearing. <br />Mr. Joseph S. Klebosits, 1905 Riverside Drive, South Bend, <br />Indiana, was present and thanked the Board, the Common Council <br />and Dr. Plain for the delay in order that the affected property <br />owners can look into the matter further. <br />APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING <br />Upon a motion made by Ms. Barnard, seconded by Mr. Vance, and <br />carried, the minutes of the March 4, 1986, regular meeting of the <br />Board were approved. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - SOUTH STREET DEMOLITION & SITE CLEARING PROJECT <br />This was the date set for receiving and opening of sealed bids <br />for the above referred to project. The Clerk tendered proofs of <br />publication of Notice in the South Bend Tribune and the <br />Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. The following <br />bids were opened and publicly read: <br />LA FREE EXCAVATING, INC. BID: $39,800.00 <br />11252 West Third <br />Osceola, Indiana 46561 <br />Bid was signed by Richard LaFree, President and Bonnie <br />LaFree, Secretary, Non -Collusion Affidavit was in order and a <br />5% Bid Bond was submitted. <br />RITSCHARD BROS., INC. BID: $40,947.00 <br />1204 West Sample Street <br />South Bend, Indiana 46619 <br />Bid was signed by Carmelo Ritschard, President and Donald <br />Ritschard, Secretary, Non -Collusion Affidavit was in order <br />and a 5% Bid Bond was submitted. <br />E &.E HAULING, INC. BID: $68,200.00 <br />26 West 580 Schick Road <br />P.O. Box A <br />Bloomingdale, Illinois 60108-8001 <br />Bid was signed by Edward F. Heil, President and Marjorie C. <br />Lutz, Secretary, Non -Collusion Affidavit was in order and a <br />5% Bid Bond was submitted. <br />1 <br />I <br />
