REGULAR MEETING NOVEMBER 17, 1987 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:32 a.m. on Tuesday, November 17, 1987, by President John E. Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski, Mrs. Patricia E. DeClercq and Mr. Michael L. Vance present. Also present was Chief Deputy City Attorney Thomas Bodnar. APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Vance, and carried, the minutes of the November 10, 1987, regular meeting of the Board were approved. OPENING OF BIDS - JANITORIAL SERVICES, INCLUDING PEST AND RODENT CONTROL AT POLICE DEPARTMENT AND THREE (3) POLICE SUBSTATIONS This was the date set for receiving and opening of sealed bids for the above referred to services. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of Notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. In a review by Board Attorney Thomas Bodnar of the appropriate bid security submitted with each bid, it was discovered that the Notice to Bidders published in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News and sent to bidders, indicated that a Certified Check or Bid Bond in the amount of ten per cent (10%) is required and must accompany each bid. However, the specifications prepared and sent to bidders, indicated that a Certified Check or Bid Bond in the amount of five per cent (5%) would be required. Therefore, based on the consensus of Board members and Attorney Bodnar, it was determined to accept all bids submitted with either a five per cent (5%) or ten per cent (10%) Bid Bond or Certified Check. The following bids were opened and publicly read: ARROW SERVICES, INC. 1815 North Michigan Street P.O. Box 515 Plymouth, Indiana 46563 Bid was signed by Don E. Green, President and Jayne A. Green, Secretary, Non -Collusion Affidavit was in order and a Treasurer's Check in the amount of $180.00 was submitted. BID: $1,800.00 for pest control at 701 West Sample Street, 1716 South Michigan Street, 220 North Olive Street and 126 North Niles Avenue, South Bend, Indiana. ABSOLUTE PEST & TERMITE CONTROL, INC. 2228 Lincolnway West Mishawaka, Indiana 46544 Bid was signed by Rocco DiLorenzo, President, Non -Collusion Affidavit was in order and a Certified Check in_the amount of $39.00 was submitted. BID: $780.00 per year/$65.00 per month for pest and rodent control at 701 W. Sample Street, 1716 South Michigan Street and 220 North Olive Street, South Bend, Indiana. ROSE EXTERMINATOR COMPANY 614 West Calvert Street South Bend, Indiana 46613 Bid was signed by C.S. Hansen, Branch Manager and Mark D. Klein, Sales Representative and a Certified Check in the amount of $75.00 was submitted. BID: $62.00/per month/$744.00 per year for pest control services for the Police Department
