REGULAR MEETING NOVEMBER 17, 1987
The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at
9:32 a.m. on Tuesday, November 17, 1987, by President John E.
Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski, Mrs. Patricia E. DeClercq
and Mr. Michael L. Vance present. Also present was Chief Deputy
City Attorney Thomas Bodnar.
APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING
Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Vance, and
carried, the minutes of the November 10, 1987, regular meeting of
the Board were approved.
OPENING OF BIDS - JANITORIAL SERVICES, INCLUDING PEST AND RODENT
CONTROL AT POLICE DEPARTMENT AND THREE (3) POLICE SUBSTATIONS
This was the date set for receiving and opening of sealed bids
for the above referred to services. The Clerk tendered proofs of
publication of Notice in the South Bend Tribune and the
Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient.
In a review by Board Attorney Thomas Bodnar of the appropriate
bid security submitted with each bid, it was discovered that the
Notice to Bidders published in the South Bend Tribune and the
Tri-County News and sent to bidders, indicated that a Certified
Check or Bid Bond in the amount of ten per cent (10%) is required
and must accompany each bid. However, the specifications
prepared and sent to bidders, indicated that a Certified Check or
Bid Bond in the amount of five per cent (5%) would be required.
Therefore, based on the consensus of Board members and Attorney
Bodnar, it was determined to accept all bids submitted with
either a five per cent (5%) or ten per cent (10%) Bid Bond or
Certified Check.
The following bids were opened and publicly read:
ARROW SERVICES, INC.
1815 North Michigan Street
P.O.
