Ir- 71'1'a /lr�J <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, PUBLICLY <br />HONORING EMIL "LUCKY" REZNIK FOR APPROXIMATELY FIFTY (50) YEARS OF FAITHFUL <br />SERVICE AS A MEMBER OF TRANSPO & FOR HIS EXEMPLARY DEDICATION TO THE SOUTH BEND <br />6A" the South Bend Common Council acknowledges that since the South Bend Public Transportation <br />Corporation ( TRANSPO) was established, Emil "Lucky" Reznik has diligently & faithfully served on the <br />TRANSPO's Board of Directors, where he has provided keen insights & vision for approximately fifty years; and <br />G,, in October of 2010, TRANSPO opened the Emil "Lucky" Reznik Operations, Administration and <br />Maintenance Facility at 1401 South Lafayette Boulevard on the site of the former Studebaker manufacturing <br />plant. It is the first transit building in the country to receive a Platinum Certification by the Leadership in Energy <br />and Environmental Design (LEED) for using a geothermal heating system and solar panels; and <br />G,, the TRANSPO facility was one of the first buildings to be located in Ignition Park, which was part <br />of a former Brownfield site, which replaced the buildings on Northside Boulevard. With the TRANSPO board <br />and staff, and under Lucky's leadership, TRANSPO is continuing to reduce fuel usage, improve operating <br />efficiencies, and implement positive service improvements reflecting the very best of innovative ideas; and <br />6X%;.4 in February of this year, TRANSPO received the 2015 Impact Award from South Shore Clean <br />Cities, for their initiative on compressed natural gas (CNG) facility aiming to be the first fast -fill public CNG <br />facility in the region - with this being just one of many awards and honors received over the years; and <br />6)f" Emil "Lucky" Reznik is a very proud alumni of Indiana University. For his service with the <br />Indiana University Alumni Association, the IU South Bend Board of Advisors, and as past president of the IU <br />South Bend Board, in 1982 he was awarded the Distinguished Alumnus Award; was honored in 1998 to receive <br />the IUAA President's Award; and in 2006 was awarded the Sue H. Talbot Distinguished Hoosiers for Higher <br />Education Member Award. Some of his many other awards and accomplishments include receiving the <br />Outstanding Hoosier Award from Governor Mitch Daniels, a Key to the City from Mayor Stephen H. Luecke, <br />and commendations from Mishawaka Mayor Jeff Rea, and Indiana State Representative B. Patrick Bauer. <br />1111110 05 �� �. pp <br />Section I. The South Bend Common Council proudly recognizes EMIL "LUCKY" REZNIK for his passion for excellence <br />in serving in many capacities in the South Bend community; and in particular, the Council is honored to publicly commend <br />this IU Hoosier for approximately fifty (50) dedicated years of service as a member of the TRANSPO Board of Directors. <br />Section II. The Common Council notes that because of Lucky's vision and dedication to excellence, countless <br />number of individuals have enjoyed top quality bus transportation throughout our wonderful community. We <br />wish this very special IU Hoosier, his wife, and their great family all the best in the years ahead.
