REGULAR MEETING JUNE 16, 1987 <br />collection vehicle on Wenger Street. In his letter to Mr. <br />Swinson of May llth, Mr. Vance informed him that if the <br />violations continued, he would recommend that that Board revoke <br />the license previously issued on April 28, 1987. <br />As Mr. Vance has been informed by the Department of Code <br />Enforcement that in fact those violations are continuing, it is <br />his recommendation at this time that the license be revoked and a <br />Public Hearing regarding said revocation be set for 9:30 a.m., <br />June 23, 1987. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and <br />carried, the Clerk was instructed to notify Mr. Swinson that a <br />Public Hearing has been set for June 23, 1987 regarding the <br />revocation of his license. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - CAR WASHES <br />FOR CITY VEHICLES <br />In a letter to the Board, Police Chief Charles T. Hurley <br />requested that the Board advertise for the receipt of bids for <br />car washes for City vehicles. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the request was <br />approved. <br />REQUEST TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY AT 1233 WESTERN AVENUE - <br />REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Gary L. Glassburn, 52399 Oakland <br />Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, indicated that he is interested in <br />purchasing the City -owned property at 1233 Western Avenue. Mr. <br />Glassburn stated that because of the speculated purchase of the <br />adjacent property at 1237 Western Avenue, the property at 1233 <br />Western Avenue could be utilized by him. Upon a motion made by <br />Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the above <br />request was referred to the necessary City departments and <br />bureaus for a determination as to whether or not the City need <br />retain the lot for any reason. <br />REQUEST TO CLOSE '1700 BLOCK EAST WAYNE STREET FOR <br />NEIGHBORHOOD BLOCK PARTY AND PARADE - JULY 4, 1987 - REFERRED <br />Ms. Elizabeth Creary, 1720 East Wayne Street, South Bend, <br />Indiana, on behalf of her neighbors, requested that Wayne Street, <br />between Esther and Greenlawn Avenue, be closed on Saturday, July <br />4, 1987 between the hours of 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. for a block <br />party and parade. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the request was referred to <br />the appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and <br />recommendation. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO CLOSE OFF ALLEY ADJACENT TO 515 E. JEFFERSON <br />FOR HOG ROAST ANNIVERSARY PARTY - JUNE 20, 1987 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Richard L. Swiental, President, <br />Parkview Tavern, Inc., has requested that the alley adjacent to <br />the Parkview Tavern at 515 East Jefferson Boulevard, be closed in <br />conjunction with the 3rd Annual Hog Roast Anniversary Party from <br />8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, 1987. Mr. Vance <br />stated that because the closing is requested for this weekend and <br />because the various City departments and bureaus have not yet had <br />the opportunity to review this request and provide a recommenda- <br />tion, he would like to make a motion that the request be approved <br />subject to favorable recommendations being received from the <br />various City departments and bureaus who typically review these <br />types of requests. Mr. Leszczynski seconded the motion and it <br />carried. - <br />
