REGULAR MEETING OCTOBER 24, 1988 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of. Public Works of the City of South Bend that each of the vehicles listed above are no longer needed by the City and are unfit for the purpose for which they were intended and have an estimated total value of $1,000.00 or more. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said vehicles be disposed of at public auction and removed from the City Inventory. ADOPTED this 24th day of October, 1988. BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS s/John E. Parmerlee, Clerk APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - MONROE PARK CURB IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT Mr. Michael P. Meeks, Director, Division of Engineering, requested that the Board advertise for the receipt of bids for the above referred to project. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the request was approved. I ` "bbJ •••.•--J , - vim. -- vl 11LG J. GL1it Avenue Neighborhood Association, 727 Forest Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to close Manitou Place, from Park Avenue to Forest Avenue, from 12:00 noon to 7:00 p.m. on October 30, 1988 for the annual neighborhood Halloween Party. Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division have reviewed this request and recommend approval. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the recommendation was accepted and the request approved. APPROVE REQUEST OF NOTRE DAME HALL PRESIDENTS COUNCIL TO ERECT TWO (2) METAL BUS STOP SIGNS DESIGNATING "WEEKEND WHEELS" BUS STOPS Mr. Leszczynski advised that on October 17, 1988, Ms. Fidelma Callery, Hall Presidents Council Notre Dame University, a not -for -profit group, submitted to the Board a request to erect two (2) bus stop signs at two (2) locations in South Bend designating the stops for the "Weekend Wheels" bus service. The "Weekend Wheels" bus service is sponsored by the University and provides students who have been drinking with an alternative to driving. Mr. Leszczynski further advised that the appropriate City departments and bureaus have reviewed this request and based on that review, he would like to make a motion that the request be approved. Mrs. DeClercq seconded the motion and it carried. APPROVE RELEASE OF EXCAVATION BOND Mr. Melvin Humphrey, Engineering Department, recommended that the Excavation Bond for Zoltan E. Vida, d/b/a Vida Plumbing & Heating Contractors, be released effective November 17, 1988. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the above referred to Excavation Bond was released.
