• <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />SEPTEMBER 19, 1988 <br />had been run for auto theft and the owners and lienholders <br />notified. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. <br />Humphreys and carried, the above request was approved and a date <br />of October 3, 1988 was established for the receiving and opening <br />of sealed bids. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - DE-ICING <br />MATERIALS <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Bill Penn, Director, Division of <br />Transportation, has requested that the Board advertise for the <br />receipt of bids for the following materials: <br />1. Sodium Chloride 12,000 tons <br />2. Liquid Calcium Chloride 100,000 gals. <br />3. Calcium Chloride Sand 5,000 tons <br />4. Calcium Chloride Slag Sand 5,000 tons <br />Mr. Leszczynski noted that the quantities indicated above are the <br />same as required last year. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Humphreys and carried, the above <br />request was approved. <br />REQUEST FOR DESIGNATED HANDICAPPED PARKING SPACE AT 1235 GOODLAND <br />AND "BLIND PERSON THIS BLOCK" SIGN TO BE PLACED IN 1200 BLOCK OF <br />GOODLAND - REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Edward E. Williams, 1235 Goodland, <br />South Bend, Indiana, advised that he is legally blind and would <br />therefore like the parking space in front of his residence <br />designated as a handicapped parking space. Also, Mr. Williams <br />requested that a sign be placed in the 1200 block of Goodland <br />Avenue advising "blind person this block." Therefore, <br />made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Humphreys <br />the recommendation was accepted and the request <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF SAINT JOSEPH'S_ MEDICAL CENTER TO CONDUCT 8TH <br />ANNUAL SPORTSMED 10K ROAD RACE, 1 MILE FUN RUN AND 4K WALK - <br />OCTOBER 30, 1988 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the appropriate City departments and <br />bureaus have reviewed the above referred to request submitted to <br />the Board on September 12, 1988 and recommend approval. <br />Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. <br />Humphreys and carried, the recommendation was accepted and the <br />request approved. <br />FILING OF ENVIRONMENTAL CLEAN-UP OF LOTS REPORT <br />A report from the Department of Code Enforcement indicating a <br />total of sixty-eight (68) properties cleaned from August 24, 1988 <br />to September 8, 1988, was submitted. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Humphreys and carried, the report as <br />submitted was filed. <br />APPROVE AND/OR RELEASE CONTRACTORS AND EXCAVATION BONDS <br />Mr. Melvin Humphrey, Engineering Department and Mr. Michael P. <br />Meeks, Director, Division of Engineering, recommended that the <br />1 <br />
