UM <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JUNE 13, 1988 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.m. on Monday, June 13, 1988, by President John E. <br />Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski, Mrs. Patricia E. DeClercq <br />and Ms. Katherine.Humphreys present. Also present.was Board <br />Attorney Marva J. Leonard -Dent. <br />ANNOUNCEMENT OF SPECIAL MEETING DATE <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that a Special Meeting of the Board will <br />be held on Thursday, June 16, 1988 at 9:30 a.m. to award the bid <br />for the St. Joseph/Wayne Parking Facility. <br />AGENDA ITEMS ADDED <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq <br />and carried, the following items were added to the agenda: <br />1. To close 500 block of Birdsell for a neighborhood block <br />party. <br />2. To conduct the following events in conjunction with the <br />Ethnic Festival: <br />- Muscular Dystrophy Bed Race - July 3, 1988 <br />- Ethnic Festival 5K Run - July 4, 1988 <br />- Vietnam Veterans Silent March - July 2, 1988. <br />APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq <br />and carried, the minutes of the June 6, 1988, regular meeting of <br />the Board were approved. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - ST. JOSEPH/WAYNE PARKING FACILITY <br />This was the date set for receiving and opening of sealed bids <br />for the above referred to project. The Clerk tendered proofs of <br />publication of Notice in the South Bend Tribune and the <br />Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. <br />Board Attorney Marva J. Leonard -Dent advised that the bid <br />submitted by Carl J. Reinke & Sons contained a fatal defect in <br />that the notary was not legal as it did not contain a notary <br />seal. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded <br />by Ms. Humphreys and carried, the bid submitted by Carl J. Reinke <br />& Sons was rejected. However, due to the discovery that the <br />original bid submitted by Carl J. Reinke & Sons did contain the <br />proper notary seal but the copy reviewed by the Board attorney <br />did not, Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the prior rejection <br />of the bid be rescinded. Mrs. DeClercq seconded the motion and <br />it carried. <br />Therefore, the following bids were opened and publicly read: <br />HARRY H.
